Are you looking for a broad and varied HR role that will challenge you to be a better HR professional? 

The HR Specialist will provide generalist HR support to our Washington D.C. team including employee onboarding, benefits and compensation administration, policy interpretation, employee file maintenance, HR communications, and more. The HR Specialist will regularly interact with all levels of employees in our Washington D.C. office, other North America HR teams, and the Regional and Global HR teams. 

As a member of BCG’s Human Resources team, we will lean on you to help us develop, deploy, and retain the best talent in the market. We will work together to manage the life cycle of our BCGers and the day-to-day operations of HR. In this role, you will have the opportunity to display your exceptional customer service, problem solving, and analytical skills! 

  • Collaborating with the Washington D.C. HR team to provide general support for local staff including contributing to on-boarding, leave-of-absence management, off-boarding, and employee relations
  • Interpreting, implementing and answering inquiries related to HR benefits, payroll, policies and procedures, while ensuring consistency and thoughtfully navigating grey areas 
  • Creating and maintaining a variety of reports and audits for the Washington D.C. HR function including attrition and turnover, people movements, form I-9 tracking, and others
  • Contributing to projects and process improvements for the Washington D.C. HR team as needed.
  • Actively participating in the broader HR community including regional/global initiatives and projects
  • Other duties, as assigned 
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, HR or related field strongly preferred 
  • 2-5 years of business experience, preferably at a high touch environment with professional staff 
  • Familiarity with federal and state employment and labor laws 
  • Computer proficiency in Windows, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. Strong analytical abilities required

  • Ability to handle competing priorities and work effectively in a challenging, fast- paced environment

  • Must perform well under pressure, take initiative, and handle multiple tasks at the same time with strong attention to detail 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to develop effective working relationships with staff while demonstrating a positive, personal and professional image; highly responsive 
  • Ability to analyze and present data in a meaningful way 
  • Project self-confidence, authority, and enthusiasm 
  • Flexible team player; outstanding customer service orientation and qualities 
  • Ability to handle personnel matters and difficult situations with extreme poise, tact and to maintain confidentiality at all times and exhibit good judgment 
  • Ability to work independently, to take initiative and to overcome obstacles 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Must be able to perform successfully in a fast-paced, intellectually intense, service-oriented environment and to interpret rules and guidelines flexibly to enhance the business and in keeping with BCG’s values and culture 
  • Experience working successfully within a complex matrix and structured organization is essential
