Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Accountant to join our team. As an Accountant, you will play a key role in maintaining financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting principles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in GAAP and accrual accounting, with experience in governmental accounting and financial report interpretation.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts
- Reconcile bank statements and other financial records
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX regulations
- Collaborate with auditors during internal and external audits
- Provide support for tax preparation and filing activities
- Assist with the implementation of new accounting software systems
Skills:
- Proficient knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Strong understanding of accrual accounting principles
- Experience in governmental accounting is a plus
- Ability to prepare accurate journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts
- Familiarity with financial report interpretation
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar systems
