Based on our continued growth and success, we are seeking candidates for the role of Property Accountant in our Glen Allen, VA office. This individual will work within the Commercial Property Management division of CCP in a team-first and fast-paced environment.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

This role prepares the monthly financial reporting for commercial, retail and or hospitality properties that are managed by Commonwealth Commercial Partners and Commonwealth Lodging Management. The use of various accounting methodologies of cash, modified cash and accrual basis reporting will be required.

The role supports efforts in the monthly financial statement preparation and reviews with the property management team.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure financial statements are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles or Tax Accounting Reporting requirements including the company’s policies and procedures. Provide technical accounting support and decision making, especially in the areas of revenue reporting, sub-ledger reconciliations, general ledger analysis, detail cash management, reserve and accruals analytics. Prepare account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and other items associated with the month-end closing process.

Financial Reporting Ensure that all ledgers and reports are closed and prepared in a timely and accurate manner. Prepare on a monthly basis financial statements including the balance sheet, P&L, statement of cash flow and forecasted cash flow. Provide additional analysis and financial support for standard and ad hoc reporting requirements as directed by owners and or asset management.

Financial Planning and Analysis Prepare the analysis and reporting of actual operating performance with operating plan and prior year results to provide information to allow management to make informed decisions and drive business growth. Analyze daily and monthly results and communicate risks and opportunities to management for decision making.

Tax Compliance Prepare all required tax filing supporting schedules and tax filings for sales tax where applicable.

Properties managed are of a low to moderate complexity.

Required Knowledge/Skills & Experience

· Experienced financial professional with a BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance.

· Minimum 2 years professional accounting or finance experience preferred.

· Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point with an emphasis in Excel and database software

· Prior property management accounting software experience preferred but not required

Relationship Building/Communication Skills. Demonstration of exceptional verbal skills in interpersonal interactions to build effective communication channels between accounting, lease administration, asset management and property management.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
