Behavioral Health System Baltimore (BHSB) is Hiring a Provider Relations Manager Near Baltimore, MD

The Provider Relations Manager develops and maintains good relationships with providers and stakeholders in Baltimore City’s Public Behavioral Health System (PBHS). As the local behavioral health authority for Baltimore City, BHSB is tasked with the oversight and management of providers of behavioral health services within the Public Behavioral Health System. This position provides customer service and provides system and regulatory expertise to providers, serving as a contact person for issues regarding the behavioral health provider licensing process, COMAR regulations, and the PBHS. The Provider Relations Manager coordinates and educates new and current providers regarding the requirements of the Public Behavioral Health System.

Essential Functions

  • Cultivates and maintains positive relationships with behavioral health service providers within Baltimore City’s (Public Behavioral Health System (PBHS).
  • Works collaboratively with other BHSB leaders to design, develop, and implement provider engagement strategies that align with BHSB’s mission and goals.
  • Actively and strategically grows and expands the knowledge/understanding of the organization’s role as the local behavioral health authority among providers utilizing a systemic approach.
  • Serves as the contact person for new providers interested in providing services within the Public Behavioral Health System or providers interested in expanding their programming.
  • Provides guidance, support and leadership to facilitate effective and timely communication between BHSB staff, providers and community providers ensuring effective customer service for BHSB.
  • Reviews and processes agreements to cooperate for new and existing behavioral health providers that operate within the public behavior health system.
  • Oversees the cross-department collaboration process for hosting in-person and virtual provider meetings that effectively communicate information needed to provide high quality service delivery in Baltimore City.
  • Serves as the lead to coordinate BHSB responses to questions and concerns raised by providers.
  • Interacts with providers, community partners and stakeholders to share information and to communicate resources and coordinate activities, goals, standards and expectations for quality service delivery.
  • Represents BHSB at events hosted by behavioral health providers, such as program openings and annual gatherings.
  • Contributes to the development of content for BHSB’s monthly provider e-newsletter
  • Provides oversight and tracking of provider lists within Baltimore City’s PBHS and maintains BHSB’s internal provider database
  • Participates in the planning and execution of BHSB’s events including National Prevention Week, Recovery Month, and others as identified by supervisor.
  • Provides leadership and guidance internally and externally on provider accreditation and licensure requirements within the public behavioral health system.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with individuals representing diverse cultures and backgrounds in situations which require a high degree of sensitivity, tact and diplomacy.
  • Provides prompt, efficient and responsive service.
  • Works effectively and collaboratively with others, both internally and externally.
  • Upholds and operationalizes the values of BHSB, which are Integrity, Equity, Innovation, Collaboration and Quality.
  • Consistently works to apply a lens of equity, inclusion and anti-racism.
  • Serves as part of BHSB’s disaster response team as needed, in any capacity that is needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

  • A Bachelors’ Degree from an accredited US college or university, in psychology, counseling, sociology, social work, public administration, public health or a closely related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of the behavioral health continuum of care in the public behavioral health system and community-based behavioral health resources, such as the 988 helpline.
  • Knowledgeable of national accreditation bodies of CARF, TJC, COA, and AHCQ as well as Maryland regulations COMAR Regulations for behavioral health service delivery and other best practices.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality customer service
  • Sound judgment in answering questions and releasing information.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrates cultural competency and knowledge of diversity concepts pertaining to service delivery for persons of diverse backgrounds
  • Basic operation and use of computers and software programs such as databases, word processing and spreadsheets
  • Ability to interact in a virtual environment.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint (delete/add programs as needed)
  • Current knowledge of trends in the profession
  • Telephone, office, and online etiquette
  • Organizes and prioritizes workload Communicates effectively in writing.

Supervisory Requirements: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

This role may require travel to other locations for meetings and other business-related needs. Ability to travel locally 50% of the time is required. It is important to have access to some form of transportation to travel to off-site meetings, conferences, and site visits.

The organization offers its employees a competitive compensation package which includes base pay, comprehensive benefits plan and equitable, hybrid, family friendly work environment and practices.

This means that starting salaries are based on the requirements of each job and are non-negotiable, that the organization is not favoring people who are comfortable asking for a salary/hourly rate increase. The starting hourly/ annualized salary rate for this position is $75,149.

The benefits plan includes comprehensive Medical and HRA, Dental and Vision coverage, as well as a choice of 4 FSA plans and an employee paid Legal benefit. BHSB offers employer paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability as well as a 403(b) plan with employer contribution, generous PTO and 13 days paid holiday. Medical plan participants receive a $5,000/$10,000 debit card to cover eligible deductible and copay expenses, depending on chosen coverage.
