Bay City Electric Works is Hiring a Human Resources Specialist Near Poway, CA

Bay City Electric Works is a forward thinking, family-owned Company with a 90 year history in San Diego. We’re looking for a Human Resources Specialist to focus on Onboarding/Recruitment & Benefits, who will create the best possible recruitment experience for our potential employees, our hiring managers, and enthusiastically support the onboarding of our new employees.

What does Bay City Electric Works do?

The Bay City Electric Works team provides standby generator, energy storage, and engine solutions to make back up power a certainty for our customers. With over 130 employees and growing, BCEW brings the stability and structure of an established business, while still valuing the individual team members that support our success and to be the go-to generator systems supplier in California, Nevada, and Hawaii. Offering quality brands like KOHLER® and Doosan, the BCEW team provides new equipment, service, and rental power solutions for commercial, municipal, and residential customers that require emergency generator back-up power.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage onboarding and new hire process; Conduct new hire orientations
  • Source and screen candidates by reviewing resumes and job applications, and performing phone screenings
  • Positively impact and drive the candidate experience, work closely with hiring managers to efficiently hire great team members and proactively communicate with candidates
  • Maintain accurate applicant tracking
  • Post, revise, and manage job postings; maintain job descriptions and position requirements
  • Create offer letters and perform reference checks as needed
  • Assign new hire training and other training programs; Ensure training is tracked in HRIS system
  • Fully understand our benefits plans, explain them to our team members and assist with Benefits Administration
  • Maintain HR and main landing page of our SharePoint/intranet site, for employees to find benefits and other reference information, etc.
  • Provide HR Policy guidance and interpretation to all employees; provide updates and edit HR Policies as required
  • Manage HR transactions through HRIS portal and teach managers and employees on how to do the same
  • Manage monthly birthday and work anniversary announcements on internal web site
  • Manage monthly health & wellness newsletter, utilizing wellness content created by our Wellness Benefit provider
  • Lead employee activities committee; coordinate and execute company morale events, support in the coordination of employee recognition programs

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or other related field or equivalent combination of work experience and/or education
  • 1-3 years of work experience in Human Resources role, with strong experience in recruitment and onboarding
  • Course work or PHR or SHRM-CP certification in HR preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment and workers' compensation laws
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop productive working relationships with stakeholders across functional and organizational lines
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees and ability to make recommendations on an appropriate course of action when encountering challenging situations
  • Strong respect for confidentiality and ability to retain confidential matters, paperwork, files in accordance with all best practices in HR and overall company security
  • High quality verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to work independently
  • Excellent follow up and attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with an HRIS system
  • 5% travel (mostly same day travel to our offices within CA: Rancho Cucamonga, Sacramento/Bay Area to on-board new employees)

As a BCEW team member, you will enjoy a total compensation package that includes competitive pay and benefits.

  • Competitive Pay & Growth opportunities: Pay range for this role is $65,000 – $85,000
  • This position will work from our Poway office and has the ability to be hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days WFH) after successful completion of 90 days of employment
  • Work as a part of a growing HR team of 4, reporting to our VP of Human Resources
