Paralegal
Office of the TN Attorney General and Reporter
Overview:
The Civil Law Division handles personal injury and tort litigation involving the State in the Tennessee Claims Commission and state court; civil rights actions brought against state employees sued individually for monetary damages in federal or state court; and workers’ compensation actions filed by state employees
Key Responsibilities:
· Maintain case calendar deadlines, produce pleadings and proposed orders for attorney review
· Review form documents for clerical errors/mistakes
· File documents electronically to the appropriate courts
· Maintain electronic case files and data, keep detailed notes on electronic case management system
· Process of service for lawsuits
· Contact opposing counsels to determine status of settlements/agreed orders
· Other responsibilities as determined by the deputy
Minimum Qualifications:
· Four-year degree or paralegal certification
