Housewrights are always keen to meet talented residential design-build professionals interested in joining their team. Were currently seeking proficient project managers with 5 years of experience in high-end residential remodeling and/or new home building. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience working on all aspects of remodeling and new home construction projects from carpentry to contract/client management. Carpentry experience is a must. Candidates should hold themselves to high-performance standards and enjoy being challenged to improve within the context of a supportive work environment. 

Responsibilities include managing all non-design aspects of residential construction projects from start to finish serving as the main point of contact between company and client for construction execution.

  • Project design support: help investigate and evaluate existing conditions, coordinate with designers and clients for clarifications, contribute to zoning & building code compliance and best building practices inputs, and contribute to the development of structural plans and specs.
  • Project sales support: Meet with prospective clients, lead evaluation, preliminary estimate development, and price presentations.
  • Proposal Development and Management: analyze designs identifying all project costs (labor, materials, subcontracts, and project overhead) and authoring well-written contract specs to match. Present proposals internally for review and to clients for acceptance. Explore options, upgrades, and/or alternatives. Anticipate unknowns. Revise as necessary. Manage deviations as projects proceed. Manage payment schedule and collections. Maintain project data within company technology solutions.
  • Project Construction Management: manage the project sites including all labor, materials, assemblies, subcontractors, and project overhead resources from start to finish. Includes frequent site presence, identifying critical path operations and maintaining project schedules, advanced procurements, client management/customer service, ensuring field staff productivity and development, quality control, and regulatory compliances.
  • Final invoicing, closeout, and costing of the project upon completion.
  • Staff Development: monitor, encourage, and review the performance of supervised staff. Generally contribute to staff quality via education & safety programs, recruitment, hiring, retention, and, if necessary, releasing.
  • Project managers will have multiple projects, at various stages in the process, ongoing simultaneously.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree. Ideally with an emphasis applicable to construction (architectural, structural, construction, materials).
  • 5 years of residential construction management experience.
  • Carpentry experience willingness/interest in occasional carpentry assignments.
  • Customer relations experience.
  • Financial management experience.
  • Staff management experience.
  • Experience in solving problems, overcoming obstacles, and moving processes forward is highly valued.
  • Experience and comfort with technology solutions.

Position

  • Full-time, 40 45 hours/wk
  • Office and job site based, typically within Dane County, WI. (or just beyond).
  • Casual, clean attire is expected.
  • Business use of personal vehicle required (reimbursed)
  • Technology hardware & software are all provided.
  • Office facilities, equipment, and supplies are all provided.

Compensation:

  • Wage weekly bonus range $82,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year, commensurate with success/experience in high-end residential remodeling and custom new homebuilding.
