Skywire Networks is Hiring a Director Network Operations Near Brooklyn, NY

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a Director Network Operations to join our team. The role is based in Brooklyn with occasional travel to other sites in the New York Area. The Network Operations Center Manager position is responsible for the remote restoration and monitoring of the Xchange/Skywire wireless, voice & data network. This position leads a technically diverse team of internal and external members responsible for monitoring the operational network in a Tier 1, 2 and 3 environments on a 24x7x365 basis. This position manages and maintains the operational policies of the Engineering organization governed through Operational Level Agreement (OLA) and Service Level Agreement (SLA). The NOC Director is the second point of escalation for the Operations Center and its external partners. The ideal candidate will have eight or more years’ experience in successfully managing NOC Operations of increased size and complexity. Establish and drive a culture of accountability and trust that creates engaged associates passionately. Responsibilities

  • Lead and advise multi-functional leadership teams, internal and external business partners as well as vendors in resolution of service disruptions within specified timelines. Ensure the highest network availability and reliability by maintaining effective monitoring and restoration of the wireless voice and data network remotely, which includes various backhaul technologies including Ethernet, IP, MPLS, Fixed Wireless, and TDM, Mobile Switching Centers, and all related elements and components of the (wireless) network.
  • Proven strong leadership skills, excellent verbal, interpersonal and customer service skills and the ability to work effectively and efficiently with co-workers, general contractors, consultants, re-sellers, and end users in a collaborative team atmosphere.
  • Drive network reliability and availability improvements utilizing tools and analysis, Operations dashboards, etc. Oversee and preserve all aspects of the National NOC including connectivity management, element management and integration, network performance, tools, and NNOC processes and procedures. Perform as the second escalation level for critical incidents and events affecting the operational network.
  • Establish, report, and manage via a standard set of KPI’s for the group.
  • Communicate with C-level executives, shareholders, regulatory agencies, and internal partners on network status and restoration actions. Manage and maintain scheduling to ensure adequate network coverage for a 24x7x365 environment.
  • Develop associates through informal and formal training and provide career guidance. Evaluate and select personnel to ensure the efficient operation of specific NOC functions!
  • Troubleshooting and Resolution: You oversee resolving all issues concerning network and IT services. The NOC Manager establishes, and institutes standard procedures to troubleshoot and resolve any issues concerning the network.
  • Alarm Handling and Escalation: The principal role is troubleshooting all technical and quality-related issues. In some instances, the issues are far too complex to be fixed quickly. The NOC manager will lead the team to address and resolve the issue while simultaneously maintain communication with management, clients, vendors, and the team to ensure they remain updated on any issues.
  • Client Interaction: The NOC manager will create the process, procedures, and train staff on interaction with customers. Additionally, they must treat customers with diplomacy and politeness. Although the role of the NOC Manager varies according to the situation, they must handle both the non-technical and technical requirements of the customer.

Technical competency in the following areas will be foundational for success:

  • Thorough understanding of IP Networks, including VLANs, MPLS, PPOE, OSPF, Cisco VSS, ASA.BGP, OSPF, ISIS, NTP, SYSLOG, VPLS, MPLS-VPN, MPLS-TE, IPSEC VPN, DNS, DHCP, Internet Peering, VLAN, ACL, WireShark, TCPdump
  • Fixed Wireless technology and equipment
  • Firewalls, switches, routers, and other network equipment (Cisco, Juniper, Ciena, Adva, Adtran, Fortinet) JNCIE, CCIE certifications
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of SIP messaging, digital switching technology, traffic engineering, telecom testing methodology, Central Office protection practices, and subscriber and trunk carrier systems.
  • Knowledge of Meta switch
  • VPN, Load Balancer, Web Application Firewall
  • Windows and Linux Server administration
  • Virtualization, Backup Procedures, Disaster Recovery and High Availability using industry standards.
  • Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy
  • Clustering, Load Balancing
  • Anti-Malware and Cybersecurity concepts
  • Network Structure & Security IPS, IDS, SNMP, SMTP, Cisco IOS, IOS-XR, NX-OS, IOS-XE, Python, Kali, Vulnerability scanners –Nessus, LAN/WAN technologies, Linux, SolarWinds, PRTG, NetFlow, IPV6
  • Network Design - BGP, LDP, IPv6, HSRP, MPLS VPN, EoMPLS, EVPN, GRE, IPsec, Carrier Ethernet
