Beginning with Children Foundation is Hiring a Director of the Legacy Network Near Brooklyn, NY

The Director of the Legacy Network will manage the operation of our college access and retention programs, career readiness and internship programs, as well as all youth and community leadership initiatives.

Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the Director of the Legacy Network, will be responsible for the design, oversight, and delivery of quality programs and activities to support the personal, academic, and career growth and success of middle school, high school, and college participants including:

  • Design and deliver workshops for young people and families, incorporating the latest research in youth development and college/career access.
  • Design and implement community-oriented youth leadership and enrichment programs.
  • Organize and chaperone college tours, workshops, field trips, and other college-bound activities.
  • Design and implement youth mentoring programs, including recruiting, training, and matching volunteers with students.
  • Develop and direct a summer internship program for college students.
  • Secure appropriate internship partners.
  • Recruit and screen student applicants.
  • Coordinate work readiness training and mentorship.
  • Place students at internship sites and conduct site visits.
  • Maintain communication with site supervisors and manage payroll.
  • Provide one-on-one college and career support.
  • Assist with college and scholarship research, applications, and essays.
  • Guide students through financial aid, internship/job searches, resume writing, and interview preparation.
  • Coordinate tutoring and test preparation programs (SAT, PSAT).
  • Schedule sessions, hire and supervise tutors, assess student progress, and handle payroll.
  • Gather, record, and report student data.
  • Monitor student progress and database accuracy.
  • Design a recruitment and retention strategy for program enrollment.
  • Oversee recruitment, training, supervision, and performance evaluations of staff.
  • Professional Development:
  • Model appropriate child and adolescent development practices.
  • Keep staff updated on educational trends and strategies.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community partners.
  • Collaborate with network schools for enrichment opportunities and cross-age programming opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Foundation leadership, board members, and school leaders to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Evening and weekend hours as programmed
  • Support all youth programming initiatives and partnerships.
  • Handle other duties as assigned.
  • Track program expenses and manage the budget.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of program activities and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Development team for funder reports and budget oversight.
  • Ensure program compliance with funder expectations and contractual benchmarks.

Qualifications

  • MA/MS in Counseling, Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related fields.
  • 8 years of experience in youth-serving roles, preferably in a leadership capacity.
  • Advanced experience in program design, planning, and implementation.
  • Proficient in curriculum development and workshop facilitation.
  • Strong knowledge of admissions, enrollment policies, alternative programs, and vocational studies.
  • Strong understanding of higher education, financial aid, and postsecondary education.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Proficient with Google Suite.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work efficiently with limited supervision.
  • Flexible, resourceful, and willing to take a hands-on approach.
  • Proactive and anticipatory thinking and planning skills.
  • Adaptable to programming shifts to meet the changing needs of our student populations.
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to develop and nurture relationships.
  • Comfortable working in various urban settings and with diverse populations.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Deep commitment and passion for working with young people from the city’s most underserved communities.
  • Strong attention to detail in all tasks and activities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
