SALARY:

$52,598 – 55,754 per year, depending on experience. Plus, excellent fringe benefits

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Education, or related field of study; one year of professional experience in an educational setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

A minimum of one year of supervisory experience.

Must reside in on-campus quarters.

Preferred:

Master's degree in Student Development, Counseling, or a related field of study.

Experience in residence hall supervision.

Working knowledge of student development.

Experience in student conduct and crisis management programs.

Progressive experience in residence life, housing, or student affairs.

Additional Eligibility Requirements:

Must be able to meet and pass a background check.

Must possess a valid Driver's License and successfully pass DMV background check.

Position Type & Work Schedule:

Full-Time, 12-month

Flexible work schedule to meet programming and department needs. The typical office hours schedule is Wednesday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Winter break and Summer Break.

Ability to work various days, evenings, overnight, weekends, winter break, summer break and occasional holidays and to respond to emergencies/crises that may occur.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to utilize a cellular device.

Familiarity with budgetary principles and practices.

Understanding of student development/mentorship/coaching models.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to exercise independent initiative and judgment.

Ability to prioritize concerns and respond accordingly using sound judgment.

Experience with student and community development, supervision, and crisis management.

Ability to work with diverse populations, including multicultural experience, cross-cultural communication skills, and the ability to create and promote an inclusive community.

Understanding of FERPA regulations, and the ability to be discreet in handling confidential and proprietary information appropriately.

Proven record of accomplishment of reliability, responsibility, and integrity.

Ability to develop and maintain an effective, cooperative working relationship with other professionals.

Competent with technology (Social Media, MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Google Workplace) and ability to learn new systems.

Work Environment:

Work typically occurs indoors but may occur outdoors on occasion for programming and events.

The incumbent will be required to live in the residence hall for 12 months per year.

The incumbent will be required to provide after-hours on-call duties.

Physical Demands:

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:

The Residential Life Manager serves students by providing transformational support and leadership for all Housing and Residential Life Students. Supervising a team of Resident Assistants, Front Desk Attendants/Clerks, and Hall Director(s), the Residential Life Manager is a team-oriented individual who provides leadership to students and staff. Under the supervision of the Director of Housing and Residential Life, the Residential Life Manager is primarily responsible for supporting a safe and secure housing facility that creates exemplary programming and services for Housing and Residential Life students. Additionally, the Residential Life Manager is responsible for the overall management of a residential area of 300 students and focuses on student development and learning, within the context of building vibrant, inclusive communities.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

Serves Students. The Residential Life Manager assists and oversees the development of a community environment that stimulates student responsibility and accountability. Predominately the Residential Life Manager initiates, plans, and organizes community development programming in the residence halls or other housing environments that foster students’ personal and intellectual growth. Additionally, the Residential Life Manager develops meaningful relationships with students and maintains a high degree of visibility and availability in the residence halls; enforces residence halls or other housing environments rules and regulations; responds to student behavioral concerns and incidents in the residence halls or other housing environments; manages situations involving various medical or other safety-related emergencies; and supports appropriate crisis response(s), daily duty report(s), and student follow-up.

As a leader in the Housing and Residential Life Department, the Residential Life Manager provides direct leadership and management for all Resident Assistants, Hall Director(s), Front Desk Attendant(s), and Front Desk Clerk(s). The Residential Life Manager recruits, supervises, evaluates, and oversees all Residence Hall personnel's professional development and leadership training programs. Additionally, the Residential Life Manager provides consistent staff meetings, supports with onboarding paperwork and employee disciplinary and performance improvement processes, manages the scheduling and coverage of all housing environments, and ensures compliance with all appropriate Federal, State, and Internal policies and procedures. The Residential Life Manager also is responsible for all annual reviews and in-service training plans for Residence Hall staff.

As a member of the Housing and Residence Life on-duty team, the Residential Life Manager participates in an on-call duty rotation with other Housing and Residential Life personnel. Additionally, the Residential Life Manager ensures the continuity of RA on-call duty scheduling and front desk support. The Residential Life Manager maintains regular office hours and oversees appropriate front desk coverage by professional and paraprofessional staff members. The Residential Life Manager also supports communication with campus police and other relevant external and internal support services. In cooperation with Risk and Facilities Management, the Residential Life Manager supports the planning and participation of fire drills and regular safety inspections of all housing environments.

As a dynamic and energetic leader, the Residential Life Manager develops, coordinates, and implements a comprehensive programming calendar including social, educational, academic, diversity, spiritual (SEADS), and safety programs designed to enhance the out-of-classroom experience for Housing and Residential Life students. In collaboration with other interested parties, the Residential Life Manager supports the development, assessment, and attendance of student late-night events, welcome week, special events and programming, institutional initiatives, and other applicable events and activities. The Residential Life Manager also serves as the advisor for the Residence Hall Association.

Actively participating in housing processes and operations, the Residential Life Manager receives requests for housing assignments, room selections, room transfers, building occupancy reports, and/or room consolidations. The Residential Life Manager additionally supports housing processes, including, but not limited to, check-in/check-out processes, early arrivals and break(s), transition(s), winter and summer housing, facilities, custodial team effort turnover schedule, and proper completion of Housing and Residence Life documentation (e.g., room condition reports). Supporting winter and summer operations, the Residential Life Manager assists the Director of Housing and Residential Life with tracking summer program assignments and the coordination of summer facilitation scheduling and turnover services.

Serving as a steward of the college’s student conduct and residential life conduct team, the Residential Life Manager supports the implementation of student conduct procedures. The Residential Life Manager serves as an Informal Conduct Officer; other duties include but are not limited to ensuring student due process is maintained; meeting with students for incidents or addressing student concerns; assigning appropriate informal resolutions or outcomes; conducting student follow-ups; submitting incident or care reports; assigning policy violation documentation; regular upkeep of cases in databases system(s); as well as appropriate follow-up with other applicable entities for support services. Additionally, the Residential Life Manager serves as a responsible employee and supports Title-IX reporting efforts. The Residential Life Manager also serves as a reporter for students of concern or student support service needs. As a member of the housing administrative team, Residential Life Manager performs some clerical duties that include but is not limited to developing and updating manuals, updating social media outlets and publications, and overseeing programming marketing efforts and campaigns.

Supports and participates in strategic initiatives and performs other duties as assigned.
