About the position

Responsible for oversight of the Company's accounting operations in a specified division or business group. This includes assisting in the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of systems of accounting records, and creating a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the Company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results

comply with generally accepted accounting principles, as well as all state and federal regulations. This position manages and coordinates the people, processes and procedures, software and other resources used to perform all accounting functions, in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations.

Day in the life

  • Manages all accounting operations for an assigned business group, including billing, collections, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger and counsel, cost accounting, inventory accounting and revenue recognition. Provides appropriate leadership communications and performance management messaging within functional group and across the business.
  • Implements necessary internal controls and ensures they are followed. Develops and documents business processes and accounting policies and practices to maintain and strengthen internal controls. Assists leadership with banking and treasury functions, including forecasting short-term and long-term cash needs and managing debt.
  • Coordinates and directs the preparation of and manages the annual budget and financial forecasts and report variances. Prepares and publishes complete, accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports. Keeps an eye on day-to-day cash flow and communicates with the appropriate internal business partners to make adjustments when needed. Supports and oversees month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Coordinates and provides required information to external auditors for the annual audit. Ensures quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting. Coordinates the preparation of tax, business entity and regulatory reporting. Researches technical accounting issues for compliance. Manages and complies with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Prepares quarterly board meeting financial package and works with the board of directors ,management and/or operations personnel to determine ad hoc financial reporting needs.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information related to project pricing, employee compensation, Company acquisitions and all other financial information deemed to be sensitive or proprietary.
  • Accurately and confidentially maintains Company records and other sensitive business and client data and intellectual property.
  • Builds strategic and effective relationships with clients and future clients, foremen, project teams, specialty contractors, vendors, suppliers, user groups and others that reflect and support the Company's core values and meet or exceed the customer's expectations.
  • Provides communications, mentoring, coaching, problem-solving and training to staff and other co-workers at all levels as needed. Advises and coaches employees and provides performance feedback regularly.
  • Consistently makes decisions in an attentive and safe manner to ensure the safety and health of self and others.
  • Utilizes LEAN concepts or other continuous improvement methodologies to ensure the most efficient operations, processes, and activities.
  • Promotes and models the Company mission, vision and values through exercising sound and ethical business practices, championing all elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and providing high quality services and programs as they relate to clients, subcontractors, co-workers, suppliers, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education, Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in risk management, insurance claims management, safety, construction management or a related field.
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM) Certification or equivalent training in the insurance industry.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience with claims processing and claims management, preferably in the electrical construction industry.
  • Keen knowledge of construction & general industry safety standards, including OSHA, MSHA, DOT & NFPA 70E.
  • Strong business analysis and mathematical skills. Skills to read and interpret financial documents.
  • Superior listening, presentation, negotiation, conflict management and persuasion skills, and the ability to influence employees at all levels, including senior management.
  • Effective organizational, complex problem solving and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose problems with strategic thinking skills and detail orientation, and to drive timely and appropriate solutions across all business lines with self-initiative and sensitivity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including high quality documentation and report preparation.
  • Demonstrated high level of integrity and dependability.
