AQUARIUS is Hiring an ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES Near Laughlin, NV

Summary:

Responsible for assisting with the overall operational and strategic direction, administration and coordination of all activities within the Human Resources division for the properties. Appropriately respond to and manage any escalated departmental concerns and guest and/or team member challenges. Advise and coach team members and management to ensure consistent application of policies and procedures, labor laws, leave of absences, and unemployment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Hire, train, develop, measure performance, and discipline of division’s leadership staff
  • Develop, implement, execute, and achieve long and short-term divisional business strategies
  • Formulate and operate within annual marketing plan, operating budget, and capital budget to accomplish goals and objectives
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of financial reports to monitor the profitability and expenses of the division and take appropriate action by creating and implementing strategies and tactics to reduce cost and/or increase revenue
  • Develop and implement staffing plans that provide divisional leadership and appropriate labor to meet guest service and operational expectations
  • Handle day-to-day company investigations, conflict resolution, team member complaint management (including but not limited to harassment, discrimination, retaliation or any other issue effecting working conditions), corrective and disciplinary actions, and team member separation management
  • Coach and advise management in interpreting and applying company policies and procedures
  • Maintain a personal, visible and approachable HR presence on the property
  • Proactively anticipate team member-relation trends, problems and concerns
  • Assist and provide input to the design, development and implementation of team member policies and procedures to ensure business needs are met in a consistent and objective manner
  • Work with outside vendor in handling unemployment claims and investigations
  • Oversee employment and recruitment activities, including transfers and promotions
  • Assist with career counseling and goal-setting of team members wishing to grow professionally within the company
  • Monitor all prospective new hires unable to successfully pass the pre-employment requirements
  • Responsible to make employment-related decisions and/or take action to renege job offers while ensuring compliance with applicable State, Federal employment laws, local regulations and internal policies, practices and procedures
  • Serve on various property committees such as safety, team member of the month and monthly leadership meeting
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including supporting leave of absence and benefit administration
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable gaming laws and company internal controls, policies and procedures, Title 31, and federal regulations, as they apply to the position
  • Provide outstanding guest service in a timely manner to both guests and fellow team members that meets the company’s guest service culture standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years’ experience performing same or similar job duties within a Human Resources leadership capacity
  • Experience working with collective bargaining agreements and union personnel
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with all levels of team members and external agencies
  • Able to apply policies and procedures, applicable laws and human resources principles and practices to investigations
  • Ability to provide recommendations and interact with team members and management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to prepare and present professional-level responses to internal and external inquiries
  • Able to use computers and related equipment, standard office software and office equipment
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in human resources or a related field is highly preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal
  • Obtain and maintain all work cards as required by the company
  • Verify right to work in the United States
