Apex Systems is Hiring an Information Technology Support Specialist Near Chicago, IL

IT Support Specialist

Location: Chicago, IL

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00AM – 4:00PM CST

Duration: 3-month contract

Reason: Additional support during peak season

What you’ll do as an IT Support Specialist:

We are seeking an IT Support Specialist to join our dynamic team. This person will be providing the Endpoint Engineering team with additional coverage. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, and able to take ownership of projects and problems with minimal supervision. In this role, you will:

Roles & responsibilities include:

  • Monitor and respond to employee inquiries concerning workstation, laptop or mobile device operation and diagnose system hardware, software and operator issues
  • Resolve issues related to hardware and peripheral components such as docking stations, monitors, keyboards, printers and turrets
  • Assist with user onboarding and offboarding processes along with user office/desk moves and shipping and receiving of end user equipment
  • Creating, enabling, disabling and unlocking user accounts
  • Creating and maintaining user groups ( Active Directory or Azure Active Directory )
  • Maintain inventory of workstations, laptops, mobile devices, monitors, keyboards and turrets
  • Conference room operation and printer maintenance
  • Determine patterns, significant or reoccurring issues that can be escalated to the Endpoint Engineering team

Qualities that make great candidates:

  • 3 years of desktop support or related experience
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Information Systems or similar field preferred, but not required
  • Familiarity with Bash scripting and/or PowerShell scripting
  • Familiarity with provisioning systems such as WDS, SCCM, Ansible
  • Working knowledge of Virtual technologies such as VMware
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose issues
  • Ability to learn and apply new concepts quickly
  • Team player with the ability to build relationships with multiple teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
