Senior Accountant

Job Responsibilities:

Support the CoverWallet Controllership team with the following responsibilities:

• Perform monthly financial close tasks, including timely creation of general ledger journal entries with supporting documentation. Communicate and follow-up with business partners on outstanding issues and deliverables, and collaborate with Regional Team and Finance Center.
• Run Trial Balance, Income Statement and Balance Sheet reports. Perform monthly, quarterly, and periodic financial analysis. Interpret data and identify trends. Provide accurate and useful information to management for review and decision-making.
• Prepare, analyze, and review monthly balance sheet account reconciliations timely and accurately, ensuring appropriate documentation and support is included. Follow-up accordingly, and research to resolve open items. Drive efficiencies and continuous improvement in the balance sheet reconciliation process.
• Create and maintain process documentation for new and existing processes.
• Collaborate with business partners to ensure appropriate use of accounting treatment in accordance with GAAP.
• Contribute to other ad-hoc, cross-functional projects, as assigned.

Required Experience:

• 3 years of work experience in a challenging and deadline-oriented environment, including relevant business and accounting experience.
• Experience with general ledger accounting software.
• Solid experience with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel (v-look-up and pivot tables).
• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate workload with attention to detail.
• Strong ability to gather and analyze financial data.
• Strong problem-solving skills and solid understanding of reconciliation controls, managing aged items and timely escalation of issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate and establish and maintain strong working relationships with all levels of management.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize according to business needs.

Minimum Education Required:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $70,000 - $86,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

The salary range reflected is based on a primary work location of Chicago, Illinois The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
