The Senior HR Business Partner collaborates with leaders and employees at every level to provide HR consultation and expertise in all areas of people and culture to align with business strategies and drive positive outcomes for our audiences.
Compensation Range: $95,655 - $143,483/yr. Exact salary determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure and internal equity.

Position Responsibility: The Sr. HR Business Partner will work with leaders to translate business/functional/enterprise strategy to people strategy by recommending, designing, and implementing people and culture solutions in alignment with enterprise and divisional goals.This role provides comprehensive expertise and guidance in the areas of talent management, talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance, and learning and development.This role serves as a strategic business partner in recommending/designing, implementing, and measuring best practices and programs to support key business objectives.
- Establish influential relationships with COE/business leaders and employees, using an approach of curiosity to engage, create and align people practices.
- Partner with COE leaders and HR on all aspects of talent management:talent acquisition, employee development, performance management, succession planning, etc.
- Collaborate with leadership on organization and culture change, employee engagement and retention initiatives; champion EIDA principles and practices that foster a culture of belonging.
- In collaboration with peers on the People & Culture team, drive talent and other initiatives with leaders and their teams to successful completion.
- As a trusted advisor, provide guidance, coaching and feedback to employees and leaders on all aspects of the employer/employee relationship.
- Handle various employee relations issues, including coaching around difficult conversations, performance improvement, and investigations.
- Handle issues arising from collective bargaining agreement implementation, including advising managers in consultation with the Labor Relations Director.
- Participate in collective bargaining sessions in collaboration and consultation with APMG Legal and Labor Relations, as appropriate.
- Provide expertise in technical and regulatory aspects of employment, e.g., hiring, termination, performance management, rewards, etc.
- Conduct highly complex and expert-level organizational change initiatives, such as talent reviews.
- Lead and/or participate in initiatives and/or projects as part of the People & Culture strategic plan or annual performance cycle.
- Lead and/or participate in enterprise-facing cross-functional initiatives and/or projects as directed.
Required Education and Experience: - Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development; MBA or advanced degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 8-10 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including a demonstrated expertise in one or more HR functional talent areas (e.g., talent acquisition, employee relations, employee development, etc.).
- Previous experience/proficiency with the HR body of knowledge.
- Experience with creating and implementing equitable, inclusive, and accessible talent management practices.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: - Demonstrated knowledge of talent management practices and change management principles.
- Demonstrated cultural fluency and experience with principles of equity, inclusion, diversity, and access.
- Demonstrated knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements for California employers.
- Ability to influence, build strong relationships and balance interests of multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to organize and track quantitative data, analyze, and identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations based on data analysis.
- Proactive and resilient self-starter with proven track record of successes in creating programs, initiatives, and policies to support business strategies and objectives.
- Ability to be a trusted resource while maintaining the highest level of objectivity and confidentiality.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills; proficient with technology and social media platforms, e.g., MS Office, UltiPro, presentation tools, and other systems and online tools as necessary.
- Strong interpersonal skills; outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to skillfully challenge the "norm," and have difficult and uncomfortable conversations at all levels of the organization.
Preferred Skills and Experience: - PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
- Public media experience strongly preferred; experience with non-profit and for-profit companies.
- Experience utilizing UKG Pro HRIS software.
- Experience working with leaders and employees in multiple locations.
- Experience working with labor unions and/or workforces organized under a collective bargaining agreement.
- Strong interest in APMG's mission to create the future of public media.
