Alhambra Elementary School District is Hiring a Training/Dispatcher Specialist Near Phoenix, AZ

JOB DESCRIPTION: To assist with the development and direction of student transportation and safety programs. To provide a continuous specialized safety and skills improvement program to ensure a highly qualified transportation staff. This program must include all pupil transportation laws as outlined by State and Federal Rules and Regulations and District Policies. To assist in providing a student safety program.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Supervisory or personnel management experience desired. Ability to teach children safety awareness. Must have an Arizona Commercial Driver’s License (Class B) with a minimum of five years experience; Department of Public Safety (DPS) Classroom and Behind-The-Wheel Training Certificates, and possess or be able to obtain Trainer of Trainer’s Certification.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform a variety of support duties as assigned including typing correspondence, memos, and distributing mail. Answer telephones, screen/route calls, and document messages. 
  • Maintain proper employee records for the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD), and the Department of Public Safety (DPS) for all drivers, as well as D.P.S annual bus driver audits. 
  • Maintain Classroom Instructor Certificate. Submit records of training for new drivers and refresher, training of existing drivers to D.P.S. when completed. Maintain "check-ride" evaluations of employees. 
  • Maintain Trainer of Trainer’s Certification. Upon completion, submit records of training provided for potential additional trainers.
  • Manage the office and/or emergencies in the event the Transportation Coordinator is out of the office. 
  • Assist Coordinator in video requests.
  • Monitor and assist employees with TimeClock Plus. 
  • Provide white fleet vehicle usage and training. 
  • Track all phases of training necessary for new and continuing bus drivers.
  • Prepare and present the curriculum used in the school classroom to instruct pupils on proper procedures when riding a school bus.
  • Prepare and present the curriculum used in the school classroom to instruct pupils on proper neighborhood safety, including walking and crossing streets in route to and from school.
  • Complete transportation internal supply orders, along with coordinating uniform orders and other services necessary such as CPI, CPR/FA, IVP fingerprint clearance cards, etc. 
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of roads and streets in Phoenix and other relevant areas, while maintaining current knowledge of routes and locations to assure accurate timely services.
  • Communicate with parents, supervisors, school administrators, and department employees. 
  • Maintain just and courteous relationships with all professional contacts. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

SALARY: Twelve-month position, beginning salary Level 34, employee benefits in accordance with Board Policies.

EVALUATION: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy on the evaluation of support personnel.
