Job Details
Senior Accountant
The Senior Accountant works independently to prepare journal entries, perform accounting reconciliations, prepare financial reports, and ensures controls are performed as designed. This position is critical to the ongoing compliance of fiscal reporting requirements. The Senior Accountant works closely with all other accounting staff to ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly journal entries including allocations of shared expenses and overhead.
- Perform all account reconciliations and follow up with stakeholders to correct and resolve variances.
- Prepare schedules and gather information for audits, tax return, cost reports, and other annual filings.
- Lead the monthly financial reviews process by preparing reports for review.
- Prepare monthly financial reports for executive review.
- Work closely with payroll and account payable to ensure transactions are booked accurately.
- Maintain other schedules necessary to tie out accounts such as employee benefits and prepaids.
- Complete other related duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent education and training in a related field.
- Minimum of six or more years of experience in accounting; experience in cost accounting, government/fund accounting, governmental contracts, federal awards, and/or non-profit organizations preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of GAAP, 2 CFR Part 200 and 45 CFR Part 75 cost principals.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat, and DocuSign.
- Experience using a computerized accounting system (Blackbaud Financial Edge preferred).
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- High level of detail orientation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate well with people of diverse cultural professional and experiential backgrounds.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
