Definition
Definition: Under general supervision from the School Principal, the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) Program Coordinator is directly responsible for the oversight of the after school program and/or summer program provided at the Salt River Elementary School through the 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant funded by the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE). The primary focus will be the coordination of programs, development, staffing, implementation, reporting; staff development, and budget management for the after-school grant. The purpose of the grant is to provide students with academic enrichment opportunities along with activities designed to complement the students' regular academic program.
Primary Job Functions: Primary functions may include the following tasks, knowledge, abilities, skills, and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of tasks performed by all positions within this classification.
Examples of Tasks
Job Duties
  • Operate campus-based after school and/or summer program that provides engaging activities for students in grades K - 6 while improving student academics, attendance and behavior.
  • Plan, develop, schedule, and evaluate overall programs, services and activities to ensure they meet BIE 21st CCLC objectives and the needs and interests of SRES students.
  • Ensure student safety during program operation.
  • Coordinates and monitors all transportation requirements for students.
  • May transport students to/from school during the Afterschool /Summer School Program
  • Coordinates and monitors all food service requirements for students.
  • Maintains consistent communication with all stakeholders.
  • Supervises activities in classrooms and reviews lesson plans; reviews parent contact logs.
  • Maintains attendance records and analyzes/documents attendance trends.
  • Responsible for student discipline program with site administration support in accordance with school policy and maintains documentation and communication regarding discipline with all stakeholders.
  • Enters/monitors/maintains student data system.
  • Fulfills program data, record keeping, and reporting requirements per grant terms and conditions.
  • Coordinates testing procedures and schedules per grant requirements; analyzes, communicates, and reports testing data.
  • Submits all program data into the Out of School-Time Leadership Management System (OSTLMS).
  • Analyzes and creates reports reflecting all activities, attendance, participation, and other data as needed.
  • Monitor expenditures to meet grant budget.
  • Work with site administration to hire staff to operate the program and volunteers for the program.
  • Work with site administration and SRPMIC Public Works to ensure facilities meet program needs.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures for all staff.
  • Provide and manage staff development opportunities for staff and volunteers.
  • Conduct/facilitate monthly staff meetings.
  • Develop partnerships with parents, Community leaders and organizations.
  • Work with Communications department to ensure program related information and activities are publicized through various media outlets.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

As a key element of this position, the individual must possess organizational and time management skills which are documented and demonstrated and must be able to display the ability to know when to utilize the necessary skills. The individual must have a demonstrated ability to work with diversity and with a wide range of external agencies as a contributing team player.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Education and Certification: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university,college course work in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or related field. Full-time experience with after school program coordination and/or organizational planning. Preference will be given to applicants with supervisory experience working with youth and program staff.
Driving Requirement: This job description does not require the incumbent to drive; however, any employee who chooses or is asked to drive an SRPMIC vehicle for work related community business must receive written annual authorization to do so. For clarification, work related community business includes driving to and from SRPMIC government sites and buildings.
Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that would allow the candidate to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position, will be considered.
Underfill Eligibility: An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill.
Special Requirements
Terms of Employment: This position is treated as a full-time non-exempt position scheduled for 40 hours per week.
Prior to hire as an employee, applicants will be subject to drug and alcohol testing. Will be required to pass a pre-employment background/fingerprint check.
