Performs plan reviews to ensure compliance with City ordinances and regulations governing all commercial and multi-family structure or projects, including site plans, architectural and structural designs.
Coordinates with Electrical, Plumbing and Mechanical inspectors for trade plan reviews.
Provides written and oral communication to applicants, contractors, architects, engineers and the general public regarding plan review, City Ordinances and regulations permitting process.
Attends plat meetings and works to improve development process.
Maintains commercial and multi-family project log and issues permits.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Ability to sit, stand and drive a vehicle to and from work sites.
Ability to read and understand construction documents, specifications, plats, City Ordinances, professional literature, plans, correspondence, and manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Skills in math. Skills to communicate both orally and in writing. Knowledge of office equipment including personal computer.
High school diploma or equivalent and a valid Texas driver's license. Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. Obtain ICC certification as Commercial Building Plans Examiner within 1 year of employment.
