City of Midland is Hiring an Economic Development Program Manager Near TX, TX

Under general direction, oversee and manage the coordination of strategic program initiatives, with a strong emphasis on economic development projects, downtown event programming, and policies and programs aimed at strengthening the economy with quality jobs and enhancing the City’s quality of life and place.Typical Duties:
  • Plan, organize, and direct the coordination and implementation of economic development projects, downtown event programming, and policies aimed at strengthening the economy and enhancing the City’s quality of life and place.
  • Identify opportunities for economic development, downtown revitalization, and event programming, making recommendations to senior staff and stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage strategic initiatives to attract businesses, support small business development, and create policies conducive to economic growth and downtown vibrancy.
  • Manage and approve the planning and coordination of downtown events and programs, including vendor management, community engagement, and logistical arrangements.
  • Act as a spokesperson for economic development initiatives, representing the City in meetings, conferences, and public events, and fostering partnerships with stakeholders to promote economic growth and downtown revitalization.
  • Supervise assigned staff, providing guidance, conducting performance evaluations, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of economic development principles, downtown revitalization strategies, and event programming.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify opportunities for economic growth and downtown revitalization.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to effectively convey ideas and recommendations to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, city officials, and the public.
Other Job Characteristics:
May require working extended hours and weekends, as well as occasional driving through city traffic.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Public Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Organizational Development, or a related field, coupled with six (6) years of experience in program or project development or management, strategic planning, economic development, and/or public administration.
Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state.
