Durham Middlefield Youth & Family Services (DMYFS) seeks a dedicated Prevention

Coordinator to lead our efforts in promoting healthy, safe, and drug-free communities through targeted prevention strategies. The Prevention Coordinator will develop, implement, and evaluate programs aimed at reducing risk factors and enhancing protective factors associated with substance abuse and other related social issues among youth and families.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver evidence-based prevention programs targeting various groups, including youth, parents, and educators.
• Collaborate with local schools, community organizations, and law enforcement to develop cohesive prevention strategies.
• Coordinate and facilitate training sessions, workshops, and community presentations on substance abuse prevention and related topics.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of prevention programs, preparing detailed reports and recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Develop and manage community outreach initiatives to raise awareness and engagement in prevention efforts.
• Secure funding through grant writing and maintain compliance with grant requirements.
• Serve as a liaison to state and local agencies on issues related to prevention and community health.
• Attend, participate, and report back from meetings with organizational partners.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Education, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of three years of experience in community health, substance abuse prevention, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of the principles of prevention and community-based strategies.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and report writing.
• Experience in grant writing and program evaluation preferred.

Compensation:

Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits package includes health insurance, retirement plan, and paid vacation.

• $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year based on a 40 hour weekly schedule and experience and education.
• DMYFS will consider alternative work schedules and arrangements so long as essential job functions can be performed
• May require some after hours or weekend event attendance/management

Requirements:

• Being able to reliably commute to Middefield and Durham, CT work locations (schools, offices, community centers)
• Hold a valid driver’s license
• Attend in-person meetings
• Submit all information necessary for DCF and criminal background checks by time of hire after conditional offer of employment
