Under the general direction of the Program Director/Team Supervisor, Prevention Coordinator is an administrative position and serves as the point person for SAPC to disseminate staff training information and to direct questions regarding SAPC invoice, workplan and contract. The Prevention Coordinator also is responsible for the implementation, including development of the Substance Abuse Prevention Control (SAPC) Prevention Education Program (PEP) work plan and activities; organizational planning and implementation of fiscal, operational, labor, and risk management of the unit and collecting the data needed for program evaluation and/or as required by SAPC.

·Provide administrative oversight of the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Substance Abuse Policy Campaign activities of Alcohol and Other Drugs SAPC PEP Contract

·Monitor the fulfillment of contract deliverables, including the review of qualitative and quantitative data of service activities; outcome performance and compliance with all contract requirements in accordance with federal, state, county, city and agency Quality Assurance Guidelines, and any other compliance activities

·Serve as the point person of contact with contractor (SAPC) regarding all contract-related issues and information, including, but not limited to, fiscal, HR, contract, training, programmatic and reporting questions and forward them to the appropriate PC and APFC personnel as appropriate

·Coordinate and ensure that all SAPC PEP staff are informed of the training offered and/or required by contractor (SAPC) and complete all training, in-service and staff development requirements as set forth by Pacific Clinics and its’ contracting, licensing, and state requirements.

·Serve as the Lead Prevention Specialist in planning, implementation and evaluation of the SAPC PEP community substance abuse prevention activities in the target Asian/Pacific Islander and Hispanic/Latino communities

·Assist Program Director/Team Supervisor and Program Evaluator in developing program evaluation and data collection plan, data collection, and continuous quality improvement activities with Evaluators and other performance related issues

·Complete and monitor program budgets for all relevant SAPC programs to ensure satisfactory compliance with internal agency procedures, contractual requirements, and program performance indicators

·Collaborate with external AOD prevention providers and staff as well as internally in support of contract goals

·Regularly research policies and emerging trends regarding impact of alcohol, cannabis, opioids, and other drugs on communities

·Complete all grant reports (including state and federal) in compliance with grant requirements in a timely manner in collaboration with Program Director/Team Supervisor

In addition to the specific coordination duties mentioned above, the Prevention Coordinator will:

·Implement the social norms changing activities to decrease favorable Asian/Pacific Islander and Hispanic/Latino community attitudes toward underage and binge drinking and substance use, including the coordination of the activities of the “Safe & Sober Prevention Community Council” and the merchant compliance monitoring and education programs in the target Asian/Pacific Islander and Hispanic/Latino communities

·Conduct prevention education workshops on alcohol and cannabis awareness and education with Asian/Pacific Islander and Hispanic/Latino youth and parents in the target communities

·Provide “Safe & Sober” counter advertising training to the youth in the target schools and communities

·Provide at-risk/at-promise Asian/Pacific Islander and Hispanic/Latino youth in the target communities with “Problem Identification, education and Referral” services

·Plan and implement large scale and positive alternative events, including, but not limited to, “San Gabriel Valley Youth Summit” and “Got Skills” substance-free events

·Coordinates and assists in the implementation of the substance abuse prevention initiatives of the “San Gabriel Valley Alcohol and Other Drugs Prevention & Policy Youth Council”

·Conduct outreach and educational activities including information dissemination to Asian/Pacific Islander and Hispanic/Latino youth in the target communities on prescription and over-the-counter medication use/misuse and offer safe medication disposal and storage resources

·Maintain secure, accurate and complete record-keeping system that documents the alcohol, cannabis and prescription and over-the-counter substance use/misuse prevention activities as required by SAPC PEP

·Review and approve required progress reports and monthly invoices and submit them in a timely manner to SAPC Coordinator

·Attend and participate in all relevant “Safe & Sober Prevention Community Council” and other community substance abuse prevention efforts and maintain ongoing working relationship with representatives of community sectors including community-based organizations, schools, faith-based entities, parents, and youth for the SPA 3 Coalition to strategize and activate AOD prevention efforts in SPA 3.

·Reports to work on time and maintains reliable and regular attendance

·Models Pacific Clinics’ approach, mission and core values in all communication and correspondence

·Communicates effectively using a culturally responsive approach with diverse consumer population and promotes favorable interaction with managers, co-workers and others

·Performs other duties as assigned

Initiate and maintain professional interactions and communication with internal Clinic’s employees and the public in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner, practice good public relations and display sound judgement and decision-making skills in high pressure situations, communicate in a professional and effective manner with others, both orally and in writing information, clearly and concisely, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions. 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited College or University in human services, social sciences, public health, public policy, and/or substance abuse is required.

Experience:.

·At least two years of relevant working experience with youth, young adults, and parents in school, counseling, community organizing, delivery of conflict resolution, peer refusal and prosocial social skills development, and/or community-based educational substance abuse prevention programs/services

·Engaging and/or organizing community members, businesses, and community leaders in the implementation/adoption of a community and/or population-based effort

·Ability to implement evidence-based strategies and prevention concepts for addressing substance-related community problems and contributing factors

·Ability to organize and prepare documentation in a timely manner

·Ability to work collaboratively with others and a willingness to participate fully in the team process

·Knowledge and experience working with children, youth, and families from various socioeconomic and cultural background

Skills:

Effective interactive workshop and small group presentation, and strong communication (verbal, written, listening) and interpersonal skills; culturally responsive community outreach and organizational skills; creative problem-solving ability; Bilingual Asian/Pacific Islander and Hispanic/Latino languages (especially Chinese/English, Vietnamese/English, and/or Spanish/English) speaking and writing ability highly preferred; Demonstratable working knowledge of the use and operation of personal computers; Certification in CPR (Child and Adult) and First Aid Training preferred.
