Substance Awareness Center of IRC is Hiring a Prevention Coordinator Near Vero Beach, FL

Why Substance Awareness Center:

SAC’s mission is to reduce the impact of substance misuse and behavioral health disorders in Indian River County through prevention, education, treatment, and recovery support. SAC has been serving the county for the past 30 years and is a highly valued partner in the community.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Prevention Coordinator to join our team. This individual will be responsible for coordinating prevention grants, facilitate meetings and activities on the local level. The activities will focus on:

(1) Increasing the prevention infrastructure of Indian River County through community collaboration;

(2) Decreasing illicit opioid, alcohol, marijuana and vaping use among youth and adults throughout Indian River County

(3) Fostering resilience and hope by developing and implementing comprehensive programs and interventions that promote mental health and well-being among both adults and youth in Indian River County.

Experience working with youth, young adults and adults, in public speaking and skills in various software programs and in using alternative electronic media will be required.

This grant is a funded position with specific milestones and deliverables pre-determined as called for in the work plan. There will be some weekends, evening hours and travel required.

Responsibilities of Prevention Coordinator:

  • Assists with implementing all strategies of grand funded initiatives.
  • Learn the CTC and SPF process and adheres fidelity working alongside the Director
  • Create and promote prevention campaigns within the community and schools.
  • Assist with coordination of presentations and trainings with the youth and parents.
  • Attend and participate in prevention events and trainings as appropriate and attend Partnership meetings.
  • Collaborate with community agencies.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the Strengthening Families program.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the WISE program.
  • Conduct Narcan trainings in the community
  • Submit regular reports as required to ensure appropriate progress on work plans.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or equivalent work experience in public health, education, or community outreach experience required.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Sitting or standing for long periods of time.
  • Bending, reaching, and crouching/kneeling.
  • Walking up and down stairs.
  • Lifting/carrying objects weighing no more than 50 lbs. Assistance may be requested if needed.
  • The Prevention Coordinator may occasionally work extended, irregular, evening and/or weekend hours.
  • Additional job duties may be assigned by supervisor as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $48,000.00 per year
