The two-time Texas Recreation and Park Society's Gold Medalist New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department is looking for passionate and enthusiastic people to be valued team members of DAS REC, New Braunfels Recreation Center. Under general supervision, performs slide dispatch duties in enforcing water slide procedures, swimming pool rules and hosting parties monitoring patron conduct.The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
  • Assists in ensuring the delivery of high quality services to the community.
  • Enforces waterslide rules and proper rider position, swimming pool rules and regulations, including ensuring orderly conduct by pool patrons.
  • Assist patrons who are in distress and administer a variety of first aid as appropriate.
  • Assists staff with activity programming and crowd control measures.
  • Assist in maintaining waterslides in a safe and clean condition.
  • Preform safety checks of the waterslides.
  • Set up, tear down and clean up party room areas for events including proper arrangement and presentation of tables, chairs, decorations, AV equipment, tableware or other props or products as needed.
  • Lead or assist in leading the party activities and keep the party running on time.
  • Establish rapport with children and parents; show genuine interest.
  • Performs basic grounds keeping and janitorial tasks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be sixteen (16) years of age.
 
Required Licenses or Certifications:
Must possess or be able to obtain within two (2) weeks of employment: Community First Aid and Safety/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) / Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification.Required Knowledge of:
  • Principles and practices of customer service.
  • Federal and State safety laws and regulations.
Required Skill in:
  • Interpreting customer and facility needs and solving customer service and public relations issues.
  • Analyzing problems, providing alternatives, and identifying solutions in support of established goals. 
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships with City employees, facility lessees and guests, event sponsors and vendors, and the general public.
  • Effective, clear and concise communication, both verbally and in writing.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
  • Work is performed primarily indoors in all weather conditions, with potential exposure to hazardous chemicals; is subject to sitting, standing, bending and reaching for extended periods of time swimming, riding in or operating motorized or manually operated watercraft and must be able to safely pull, push, lift and carry items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Must be able to work irregular hours including weekdays, weekends, holidays and evenings.
  • Must be willing to assist patrons.
  • May be required to work immediately before, during or after an emergency or disaster.
  • NOTE: This position is designated safety and/or security sensitive.
