Summary

The PSR Peer Engagement Support Specialist is responsible for assisting PSR Counselors to keep members engaged during program activities within and outside the agency. This staff will utilize his or her lived experience to provide non-clinical support to PSR members and staff.

Role and Responsibilities

The Peer Engagement Support Specialist will utilize his or her lived experience to provide assistance to PSR Counselors as follows during program hours:

• Non-clinical support to PSR Counselors.
• Help keep members engaged during group sessions.
• Provide the necessary support for members to cooperate and comply with program rules and regulations.
• Discourage PSR members from roaming the facility.
• Monitor members’ smoke and meal breaks.
• When needed, provide outreach services to members i.e. home visits, phone calls as well as advocacy.
• Serve as monitor during the transportation of members to and from the agency, including community outings, if so desired or assigned.
• Provide meal time monitoring during breakfast and lunch periods.
• Participate in agency and program meetings.
• Meet regularly with Supervisor for supervision following an assigned time schedule.
• Respond to counselors’ and supervisors’ directives in a timely manner, paying attention to deadlines.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Must be able to read and write simple basic documents.
• Lived experience is preferred
• Agree to comply with medication and treatment (if applicable).
• Service oriented, empathetic and able to interact and develop rapport with a diversified population

Must pass mandatory background checks which may include pre-screenings and pre-employment drug screen.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
