POSITION: Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania, is seeking a one-year Interim Director of Music Therapy (non-tenure track; Instructor / Assistant Professor of Practice) for 2024-25 to provide clinical supervision, coordinate clinical practicum assignments, and teach courses within the music therapy curriculum.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in Music Therapy or a related field required; doctoral degree in Music Therapy or a related field preferred
• Clinical competence with a minimum of 2 years full-time clinical music therapy experience required, 5 years preferred
• Professional certification in music therapy with the MT-BC credential
• Meets AMTA standards for full-time faculty
• A commitment to working effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds
• Working knowledge of different approaches to music therapy practice, theory, and research, and interest in teaching a broad range of topics in the field
• Effective classroom teaching and clinical supervision skills
• Record of research with a history of publications and/or presentations
• Strong interpersonal skills
• A strong musical background
• Evidence of academic service

RESPONSBILITIES:

• Teach undergraduate music therapy courses
• Supervise research
• Advise music therapy undergraduates and equivalency students
• Provide appropriate service to the University
• Maintain visibility in research
• Other duties as determined by successful candidate’s qualifications and experience

THE PROGRAM: Marywood University’s Music Therapy program is the largest in the area and has a 44-year history of excellence in the field. Housed within Marywood’s Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance, the Music Therapy program currently enrolls over 20 majors, most of whom are active at regional and national conferences and workshops. Many alumni of the program have held elected positions in AMTA and other such organizations.
