Marywood University is Hiring an Instructor of Nutrition and Dietetics (POP or Tenure Track) Near Scranton, PA

Come join the Health, Nutrition, and Exercise Science Department at Marywood University! In addition to our undergraduate program, we offer masters degrees in Nutrition and in Sports and Human Performance Nutrition (SHPN), as well as an accredited Dietetic Internship (DI) Program (transitioning to a GP/FEM). New hires may have the opportunity to teach in both the undergraduate and graduate programs.

Job Description

Marywood University is inviting candidates to apply for a full-time, 9-month tenure track open rank, or non-tenure Professor of Practice position in nutrition and dietetics, with an August 2024 start date. This position combines teaching, service, and scholarship (tenure track) or professional contributions (non-tenure track) with the potential for administrative responsibilities within the department including the accredited programs. This collaborative team member will be instrumental in helping to actualize our departmental strategic plan as well as help grow the nutrition programs.

The Health, Nutrition, and Exercise Science Department Our faculty team strives to cultivate learning experiences that empower students to develop skills which allow them to pursue meaningful and impactful work. Our department offers both Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND)-accredited and non-accredited undergraduate and graduate programs including traditional and Spanish DPDs, onsite and distance MS DI program, as well as onsite and online MS in Nutrition and MS in SHPN options. The department is part of the College of
Health Sciences (CHS), houses a Culinary Laboratory, active learning classrooms, shares an Exercise Science Lab, and is uniquely situated for interprofessional collaborations. The department is located in the O’Neill Center for Healthy Families which is home to the new Pascucci Family Health Sciences Pavilion opening in June, which will house ample space and cutting edge technologies (e.g., a simulation lab) that will facilitate collaboration between members of the health-related professions (e.g., Nursing, Physician Assistant, Exercise Science, and Respiratory Therapy).

Requirements

  • A Doctoral degree or ABD (tenure track), or Masters (non-tenure) degree in Nutrition or a closely related field
  • Alignment with Marywood University’s Mission and Core Values
  • Strong communication skills
  • A desire to work in collaborative teams and the ability to bring out the best in others
  • A record of scholarly activities, especially those that include students (tenure)

Preferred Qualification

  • Their Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential
  • Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate level
  • Evidence of effectively delivering courses in an online modality
  • Demonstrated commitment to developing every student’s potential, and creating an empowering, inclusive environment both in and out of the classroom

While areas of teaching/scholarship are open, expertise in clinical nutrition, research, nutrient metabolism, as well as sports and human performance nutrition would be of particular value to the department. Previous clinical experience is an added benefit for this position.
