Central Indiana Orthopedics is Hiring a MRI TECHNOLOGIST PRN Near Muncie, IN

The MRI Technologist is responsible for assisting patients in feeling comfortable with and answering questions about the MRI procedure. This individual will perform basic MRI examination based on physician orders, position patients appropriately, and select proper machine settings to produce ordered images.

Location: Muncie, IN office

Responsibilities:
  • Prepares patients and adjusts equipment for scanning following established procedures for patient care and safety. May prepare patients and operate equipment for radiological procedures.
  • Communicates aspects of procedures with patient, answering questions and easing patient concerns; interviews and screens each patient for contraindications and history prior to entering scan room.
  • Evaluates physician needs to select appropriate protocols based on the patient; observes patients for vital signs during examination; prepares contrast media and administers IV contrast according to office protocols under supervision of physician.
  • Follows prescribed safety standards in operating MRI equipment.
  • Prepares examination rooms, stocking with necessary supplies and ensuring equipment is clean and in working order.
  • Maintains equipment, making minor adjustments as necessary, and reporting equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Places a high priority on and maintains strict confidentiality in all situations.
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains applicable professional affiliations and certifications as required.
  • Attends and participates in required organizational meetings and committees as requested.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Experience, and Certification/License Requirements:
Completion of course in radiological technology approved by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists. Board certified with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists in MRI. Must maintain certification with the ARRT and an active Indiana State license. One year of experience as a MRI Technologist preferred.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Working environment is in enclosed space with radiologic equipment. Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Work requires standing for long periods of time. Job requires excessive amounts of walking, also stooping, bending, stretching, and lifting to help position patients and equipment. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques. Lifts patients weighing up to 300 pounds, placing them in appropriate positions for operation of equipment. Requires manual and finger dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment (computer, telephone, copier, etc.) and radiologic equipment. Requires eye-hand coordination for operation and repair of radiologic equipment. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment and review developed films. Hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts and to interact directly with patients. Regularly interacts with staff, physicians, and the public. Work may be stressful at times. Evening or weekend work may be required.
