Central Indiana Orthopedics is Hiring an Athletic Trainer (ATC/L) (w/outreach) Near Anderson, IN

The Primary Clinical Specialist (ATC) is directly assist the Physician, Physician Assistant and/or Nurse Practitioner with clinical and administrative duties as needed. If working directly with an orthopedic surgeon, this will include surgery scheduling and interfacing directly with company-owned surgery centers and/or hospital systems. This individual is responsible for making patients feel comfortable during the visit, directing patients while in the clinic, and performing initial assessment and intake of information.

This individual will also work in the Fishers location.

  • Serves as a primary assistant to the physician, performing clinical and administrative duties as needed.
  • Ensures that applicable test documentation and/or records, such as MRI results, blood tests, pre-surgical testing, etc., are in-house and attached to the patient’s file in advance of scheduled visits.
  • Coordinates surgery scheduling for patients and referrals to other providers as necessary and requested by the provider and completes requested paperwork for patients such as disability and FMLA forms.
  • Monitors and returns calls to patients who call in for the provider, answering questions/concerns, providing information and instruction for care, and referring to provider when needed.
  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment by observing, recording, and assessing patient’s condition.
  • Performs selected nursing duties, including assisting provider in preparing for minor surgeries, procedures and physicals; assisting provider during treatment as needed; obtain specimens and administer injections or tests as ordered by provider, arranging for additional testing as needed, and apply or remove casts, splints, and dressings as necessary.
  • Explain and demonstrate home physical therapy exercises or rehabilitation techniques to patients.
  • Maintain and update patient records with a high degree of accuracy in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Experience with EMR (electronic medical record) system required; NextGen EMR preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and proficient with computers.

License/Certification/Education

  • Completion of an accredited Athletic Training program (Bachelor's or Master's degree)
  • One to two years’ professional experience in a clinical setting preferred
  • Must possess and maintain in good standing Certification from the Board of Certification and Indiana state Athletic Training license
  • Must possess and maintain current BLS certification (can obtain within 3 months of hire if not currently certified)

Additionally, the Athletic Trainer in the position also will have outreach responsibilities working with high school athletes.
