Position Summary

This recruitment will be used to fill part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week during academic terms and 40 hours per week during academic breaks) Student Technical Assistant positions (research field work) for the Eastern Oregon Agricultural Research Center (EOARC) in Burns, OR for Oregon State University (OSU).

This position will participate in a variety of field data collection activities associated with sagebrush rangeland restoration and seedling ecology research as well as data entry.

Data collection will include estimates of cover, density and biomass of grass, shrub and tree species. The applicant will also be involved in setting-up research projects, including plot layout and fencing.

• Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
• Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment

A reduced course load is approved by the (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center. Additional Required Qualifications Self motivated Preferred (Special) Qualifications

• Experience / training / interest in plant identification, vegetation sampling, and ecology.
• Experience living or working in rural / remote locations.
• General knowledge of computers and skills used in word processing and data entry.
• Demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
• Ability to carry out tasks independently and as part of a team.
• Experience driving 4wd vehicles and using GPS units.
