Apogee Engineering is seeking a Director of Human Capital in our corporate headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO. The Director is responsible for delivering exceptional service and providing support of organizational growth and the execution of company-wide Human Resource initiatives. What you will be doing:

  • Partner with the leadership team in creating and driving strategic HR initiatives, programs, and processes to grow business results that align with industry best practices.
  • Establish and maintain ongoing effective communication among management and employees and encourage a culture of cooperation, teamwork, and open and effective communication at all levels of the organization.
  • Oversee and administer all employee benefit programs including: group medical, dental, life, accident, disability insurance, and 401(k) benefits.
  • Create, implement, and assess people strategies and processes to support performance management, and employee development, coaching, mentoring, and succession planning that continue to feed and grow the internal talent pipeline.
  • Provide guidance and counsel to management and employees on employee relation issues, complaints, or problems and ensure production and maintenance of records for ongoing issues.
  • Manage full cycle recruiting, including posting of available and anticipated positions and determining appropriate recruiting strategies, resume screening, assisting hiring managers with interviews, negotiating salary, reference checking, and issuing offers.
  • Participate in community outreach efforts and local and dispersed job fairs as required.
  • Maintain responsibility for company compliance with federal and state legislation pertaining to all personnel matters and compile related HR metrics.
  • Provide training as needed to ensure employees understand company HR policies and procedures, including new hire on-boarding and annual open enrollment.
  • Interface with Payroll & Finance departments to ensure employee updates are transferred timely and accurately.
  • Manage Director Reports by providing oversight, career development, mentorship, and direction to optimize performance across the department.

What you will need:

  • Excited and self-motivated to develop customized HR strategies and procedures.
  • Experience in a high growth business, government contracting or DoD related preferred.
  • Experience working with and developing HR related technology tools (ATS, HRIS, etc.) as well as evaluation, selection, and implementation of new HRIS capabilities.
  • Experience managing outside vendors and consultants, with strong negotiation skills required.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal human resource related laws and requirements required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the organization.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem identification and resolution skills.
  • Organized and extremely detail-oriented.

Education, training and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field with 16 years of progressive experience as a HR professional or a Master's with 14 years of experience or equivalent. At least 6 years in a management capacity.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, SPHR, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Apogee offers two medical plans, a high deductible health plan with a HSA and HRA and a traditional POS plan with co-pays, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, PTO, paid holidays, parental, military and jury duty paid leaves. Regular part time employees scheduled for twenty-four or more hours per work week are eligible for benefits on a pro-rated basis.
  • This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.
  • In accordance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this position is $134,000 to $223,000. However, Apogee considers multiple variables when determining compensation, including but not limited to, the level of responsibilities, prior work experience, education/certifications, and any clearance requirements.
