Position Summary: The Vice President, Business Development is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, cultivating and maintaining relationships with clients, and managing the sales process from lead generation to closing deals. This role involves understanding customer needs, developing tailored solutions, and achieving sales targets to drive company growth.
Reports to: Chief Commercial Officer (CCO)
Responsibilities
  • Business development: including market research and generating leads. Engage with existing accounts to discover new opportunities.
  • Establish and grow relationships with new and existing customers through regular communication, meetings, and visits. Attend conferences and networking events to build relationships and identify business opportunities.
  • Manage RFQs, develop quotes, and ensure all necessary documentation is provided. Participate in quote development calls and deliver complete proposals. Follow up with customers to answer any questions and manage relationships throughout the quoting phase.
  • Participate in project calls, deliver quotes, and address issues, negotiate payment terms, coordinate legal exchanges related to RFQs and contracts.
  • Close business deals that align with company objectives and achieve annual booking targets. Update CRM systems with opportunities and sales information.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers, send job progress updates, provide timely responses to inquiries, facilitate meetings with all stakeholders, educate and set reasonable expectations.
  • Ensure all necessary estimates and work are provided through clear communication and relationship building. Adapt to different company processes and engage proactively pre- and post-PO. Build trust with program managers and stakeholders by bringing in opportunities and necessary documents.
Job Qualification RequirementsEducation – High school diploma required. A college degree in engineering, sciences, economics, or business is preferred.
Experience – Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; a working knowledge, experience, and relationships with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and government agencies such as the Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Energy (DoE)
A minimum of five to ten years previous sales or engineering experience in the manufacturing or related industry preferred with strong organizational abilities and good communication skills. Must be detail oriented, have problem solving ability. Must be able to work unsupervised and have initiative to follow through the steps required, working with our Customer Focused Team (CFT) teams and executive staff.
Must be a US Citizen. Minimum requirements as needed to travel by car and airplane in the continental U.S. and internationally (primarily Canada). Travel is required for this position.
