Trinity United Methodist Church in Waverly, Iowa is seeking a full-time Director of Discipleship. The Director is responsible for the Christian Education program of the church. This includes recruiting and training volunteers for Trinity’s programs, which include small groups and youth groups. The Director is also responsible for maintaining outreach and nurturing programs for the congregation.

Duties:

• Directs and provides vision for Christian education ministry at Trinity UMC to promote growth in faith and discipleship through education classes, Vacation Bible School, youth ministry, confirmation class, and special programs
• Develops events and activities that promote fellowship in the congregation for families with children, young adults and senior citizens
• Identifies and recruits volunteers for education programs, Wednesday after- school program, small groups and special programs
• Maintains programs of outreach and nurture for the congregation.
• Ensures that all volunteers are aware of and follow Trinity’s Safe Sanctuary policy to protect children, youth and vulnerable adults; annually updates Safe Sanctuary policy and trains new volunteers
• Provides timely communication to congregation and the public about Christian education activities, other programs and events at TUMC
• Selects appropriate curriculum for Christian education and Vacation Bible School that is in harmony with theology of the United Methodist Church
• Schedules nursery staffing for worship and special events and as needed for group classes and activities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $41,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
