Primary Responsibilities:
Oversees all aspects of Infection Control activities related to residents, staff, and visitors. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal agency regulations with regards to all infection control activities. Responsible for the communicable disease reporting process to appropriate state and local health agencies, as required. Provides mandated in-service education to all staff and collaborates with department managers in providing staff with specific infection control educational programs. Develops and initiates activities to monitor and evaluate Infection Control program to identify opportunities for improvement. Develops and revises policies and procedures that reflect updated guidelines set by local, state, and federal regulations.. Consults with Medical Director, Department Directors and staff regarding communicable disease, need for immunization and isolation with consideration of the aging process, human growth and development, and cultural patterns; assisting as needed in the development of plan of care. Maintains professional competence through Infection Preventionist Certification and attendance in education programs in the specialty. Responsible for the coordination and tracking vaccines including but not limited to Influenza, Pneumonia, and Hepatitis B, TB, COVID, assists with resident and staff testing and reports to state and federal agencies as required. Completes an annual facility Infection Control Risk Assessment.
