Position: 
The Human Resources Generalist is part of the Human Resources (HR) Department for Minnesota United FC (MNUFC), a sports business located in the Twins Cities area of Minnesota and a member of Major League Soccer (MLS), the top tier soccer league in North America.
Job Description:
We're looking for a dynamic Human Resources Generalist who is passionate about people and loves a good challenge.
As our HR Generalist, you'll be the go-to guru for all things HR. This role is crucial in maintaining a positive work environment through building relationships with employees, acting as a trusted advisor, and offering an open door. You will bring fresh, innovative ideas to the table and play a key role in keeping our day-to-day operations running smoothly. In this role, you’ll be an architect of change and champion of progress.
Reporting to the Vice President of People Operations, this is a hybrid-role based in Golden Valley, MN. 
What You'll Do:
  • Be a Performance Coach: Take the lead in guiding employees and managers through performance management and employee relations issues, digging deep to find root causes and recommending the best steps forward.
  • Champion HR Initiatives: From inception to execution, be responsible for a variety of HR processes including compliance and HR technologies. 
  • Change Agent: Recommend and implement new HR-specific processes, policies, and programs to boost the club’s overall business effectiveness.
  • Problem-Solving Pro: Proactively tackle challenges head-on with creative solutions that keep our team moving forward. Maintain focus with changing priorities.
  • Be the People Person: Build strong relationships and be at the heart of employee relations, ensuring everyone feels heard and valued. 
  • Practice Emotional Intelligence: Use your keen emotional intelligence to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics and foster a positive workplace culture. Understand the human element of the role and approach situations with sensitivity and tact.
  • Policy Pundit: Ensure HR services align with our club culture, strategies, and goals, as well as all relevant laws and procedures. 
  • HR Educator and Compliance Specialist: Onboard new hires, develop and execute mandatory training on workplace conduct and policies, maintain and optimize the Human Resource Information System (HRIS), and stay updated on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and new HR technologies.
  • Claims Expert: Be the go-to person for all Workers Compensation claims.
  • And More!: Tackle additional duties as they come up.
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources, with a focus on employee relations, performance management, and compliance.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent education and experience).
Certifications: HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) preferred.

  • Solid understanding of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems, specifically ADP Workforce Now, and MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and across departments.
