THE OPPORTUNITY

The Company is seeking to recruit a Vice President of Operation (“VP, Ops”) to further develop and mature The Company’s Arizona & Wyoming sites while capitalizing on the advantageous market dynamics and opportunity for a highly scalable gastroenterological platform across the Western United States. The Company seeks to drive growth and profitability through its proven operational playbook and by driving economies of scale across its affiliated practices.

The Vice President of Operations (“VP, Ops”) will be responsible for the continued development, implementation, and execution of The Company’s operational strategy and the expansion of the Company’s footprint in these highly fragmented market(s). Reporting directly to the CEO, the incoming VP, Ops will be responsible for managing the operational capabilities with attention to: Recruitment, EMR, Managed Care, Integration planning, and operational maturity within the Arizona/Wyoming Markets and any additional beachheads The Company acquires in the relative geography.

The VP, Ops will be tasked with spearheading the re-alignment of the organizational structure and software to allow for a data-driven scalable operation. This individual will create and manage actionable data dashboards, across practice disciplines, that allow for more timely decision making. The VP, Ops will work hand in hand with the VP, HR to integrate new recruits and match provider supply to match market demand, as there exists a 1,400-procedure referral backlog. The physician recruiting process has been revamped through the buildout of a fully automated ATS, allowing The Company to capitalize on the regional population dynamics and growth.

As the leading partner for successful regional gastroenterology practices in the Western United States, with a growing brand and strong reputation, The Company is well positioned for strong growth in a sector that presents an opportunistic market dynamic. The VP, Ops will be responsible for the acceleration, formalization and management of The Company’s growth initiatives and processes, positioning the company for a successful recapitalization event.

KEY RESPONSBILITIES

  • Provide day-to-day management of a $10mm P&L and operational support of all Physicians and APPs.
  • Assess outreach locations and block schedule to optimize capacity and profitability.
  • Institute operational strategies and processes to support services across clinics.
  • Redesign of infrastructure to better support team and reduce turnover.
  • Work closely Human Resource and recruitment team to ensure compensation programs, and structure for physicians and APPs are aligned to improve retention and recruitment.
  • Actively monitor staffing and retention/recruitment performance quarterly to present recommended changes with supporting data to the members.
  • VP, Operations will meet quarterly with executive team to review KPIs, clinical quality and efficiency data.
  • Improve operational predictability of the practice, while solving for location-specific output and retention goals.
  • Support local execution of organization-wide scheduling improvement processes.
  • Create and maintain positive relationships with senior stakeholders at local partner health systems.
  • Drive EBITDA growth by creating site-level efficiencies, ensuring execution through a system of metrics, and fostering a culture of accountability.
  • Create an environment that provides ongoing development and training, and rewards and recognizes outstanding performance while holding individuals accountable for achieving results.
  • Ensure that broad strategies are translated into specific objectives, metrics and action plans with accountabilities clearly defined to drive high-quality results.
  • Partner with data analytics team to use one site, multi-site, and system wide data to improve operational efficiencies and health outcomes.
  • Provide coaching and support to providers and APPs, with a strong focus on stabilizing and improving operations.
  • Drive scheduling modernization and optimization to ensure provider schedules are at capacity.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • A strong track record of leading complex multi-site healthcare delivery organizations alongside physician leaders; prioritizing relationship building, influence and collaboration.
  • Experience managing a P&L and leading teams through a transformative phase (i.e., a period of exponential growth or an operational turnaround situation).
  • Experience or exposure to settings that utilize care services, such as hospitals and/or ambulatory surgery centers, is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to simultaneously create and execute operational strategies and dive into the day-to-day operational details of the business.
  • Demonstrative data-driven skills and extensive experience putting in place appropriate KPI’s, establishing metrics, and developing meaningful analytics to enhance and drive business performance and continuous improvement.
  • Experience cultivating partnerships with leaders at local and national health systems and medical facilities.
  • Proactive nature in seeking out the best talent; identifying, retaining and developing diverse talent pools critical to executing organizational strategies.
  • Keen awareness of compliance, legal structures, regulations and policies that impact GI practices and partnerships with surgeons, health systems, payers, and facilities.
  • Strong, charismatic executive presence and an ability to anticipate and address challenges swiftly.
  • Successful team-building skills and knowledge in fostering high performing teams.

EDUCATION

An undergraduate degree is required; MBA or other relevant advanced degree is additive, but not required.

COMPENSATION

An attractive compensation package comprised of base salary, annual performance bonus, full benefits, equity will be constructed to attract outstanding candidates.
