Southeastern Surveying and Mapping is Hiring a Human Resources Assistant Near Chipley, FL

POSITION SUMMARY

The Human Resources Assistant position primarily involves providing administrative support to the HR department and assisting with various employee management and organizational development tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform orientation and process records for new hires.
  • Maintain personnel files, including medical files, I-9s, and confidential files, as well as appropriate retention and destruction guidelines.
  • Assist in administering benefit plans (medical, dental, life, disability insurance) and retirement plans (401k) to ensure compliance with all laws and company policies.
  • Inputs new employee information, terminations, and employee changes into the HRIS system.
  • Coordinates and organizes open enrollment communications and election process.
  • Assists in administering COBRA, Short Term Disability Leave, and Family Medical Leave to ensure compliance and consistency with all government regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining workers' compensation case files; follow up on open claims.
  • Assist in compiling and preparing reports and documents about personnel activities.
  • Track, maintain, and monitor HR data and provide necessary reports.
  • Assist in the resolution of payroll errors.
  • Assist in the implementation of company policies throughout the organization.
  • As needed, update and maintain federal and state legal posters, including electronic and hard copy postings.
  • Support internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests.
  • Assist in HR Audits for proper compliance and accuracy.
  • Perform miscellaneous clerical duties, including but not limited to keeping staff lists updated, mailings, filing, photocopying, shredding, performing data entry, and distributing mail.
  • Carry out other HR-related administrative duties as assigned by management.

SKILLS

  • Technically savvy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required.
  • Highly motivated, engaged, results-oriented, and committed individual with an interest and background in Human Resources.
  • A strong sense of urgency and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • The ability to establish high trust and credibility in the organization, as well as confidentiality and discretion, is essential.
  • Must have the capability to effectively multi-task.
  • Exude a high level of professionalism and a positive attitude.
  • Understanding of principles and practices of applicable state and federal employment laws preferred.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma; Three to five years of administration experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with HRIS management systems.

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, or listen.
