SCHEDULE:Full time- Monday to Thursday 10am to 6:30pm or Monday to Thursday 10am to 6:30pm, Fridays 10am to 2:30pm.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
· Experience of a minimum of 2 years in preparing meals.
· Current sanitation certification from the Chicago Department of Public Health and compliance with
state, local, and regulatory agencies in relation to food service.
· Experience cooking for a large number of people.
· Ability to safely use of all food service equipment.
· Ability to maintain kitchen sanitation and safety standards.
· Regular and predictable attendance
· Ability to work both independently and as an active team member.
· Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
· Excellent organizational skills.
· Maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences.
· Ability to maintain professional demeanor while exercising judgment and discretion in work.
· Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, recipes, menus, warning labels, packing slips and supply orders.
· Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
· Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
· Flexibility in scheduling and willingness to cover other shifts.
· Commitment to the mission, values, and goals of the Agency.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Provides nutritious meals to Youth and Staff while complying with all applicable sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards as well as department policy and procedure.
· Follow set menus and recipes while also being creative to use food items on hand and minimize waste.
· Organize and stock kitchen and supply room.
· Works cooperatively and professionally with all Agency staff.
· Assist with set-up, service and clean-up of food productions.
· Use, clean and store kitchen equipment properly and following all protocol and procedure.
· Assist with safety and training procedure in handling of food service equipment.
· Complete tasks assigned by Supervisor of Kitchen Operations and Head Chef.
· Cooperate in the scheduled cleaning of specific areas.
· Serve all youth and staff with respect and in timely manner.
· Cooperate with Career Resources team on meeting the needs of the Youth Employees.
