Northwest Suburban Integration School District is Hiring a Learning And Development Specialist Near Brooklyn, MN

PARTICULARS

  • This is a full-time role with a 195-day schedule per school year
  • An 8-hour workday has worked best for similar roles; this may be flexible
  • The salary range for this role is $50,000-$80,000 (based upon experience and education), in addition to a comprehensive benefit package

PURPOSE

Our Learning and Development Specialist has one overarching purpose: to help educators hone their practices in ways that ensure success for all students, specifically as it relates to Achievement and Integration (MN State Statute 124D.861).

This work mainly supports three subsets of individuals:

  1. staff who work specifically at NWS magnet sites that receive federal funds via NWS’s MSAP grant(s)
  2. staff across all NWS member districts
  3. staff who work onsite at NWSISD

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Across all of NWS member districts, with specific focus on magnet sites receiving federal MSAP funds—

To increase educators’ capacities for, and confidence in:

  • using approaches, techniques, and content specific to magnet theme(s)
  • using approaches, techniques, and content that is Culturally Revitalizing/Sustaining (CRS)
  • building CSR learning spaces that evolve, especially as they pertain to historically marginalized and low- socioeconomic subgroups
  • ensuring academic success for all students by leveraging CRS/theme-specific approaches and programming
  • analyzing and using student/ site/district data to inform instructional approaches and supports

For the NWS team that works onsite—

To increase NWS’s site team’s capacities for, and confidence in:

  • aligning Culturally Revitalizing/ Sustaining (CRS) approaches, techniques, and content to specific standards/grade levels
  • enhancing CRS learning spaces to align with member-district needs and to ensure academic success for all students

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physically located in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. Our NWSISD team mainly works on site with occasional flexibility to work hybrid.

  • often works seated at a desk inside a private office
  • often works in various locations throughout the office suite and schools across our member districts to facilitate groups, plan events, prepare items, etc.
  • periodically works off site in non-district buildings to assist with programming and events

REQUIREMENTS

  • Holds a valid teaching license (an active Minnesota license preferred)
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with a master’s degree or higher preferred
  • Holds a valid driver’s license: willing/able to drive a district vehicle throughout our 7-district geographic area
  • Experience working with a richness of racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Prior experience working with multiple grade levels, from PreK through grade 12
  • Has had at least 5 years of classroom experience
  • Has had leadership and/or professional development facilitator experience
  • Prior experience working with parents, families, community resource providers, and/or similar
  • Prior experience working with magnet programs/themes
