Spring Creek Towers is Hiring a Volunteer coordinator Near Brooklyn, NY

Position Description : EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS :

Graduate of an Accredited College or University with a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or BA / BS degree in Human Services or Organizational Leadership preferred.

Experience working with older adults in a micro, macro and mezzo setting.

Familiarity with developing new partnerships with social service agencies within New York State.

Experience developing, teaching and implementing educational & recreational activities for older adults.

Experience working with NYC Aging & New York State Office for the Aging (NYSOFA) programs.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

Organizes, coordinates and manages the recruitment of volunteers for the board, various committees, departments and association programs.

Works with social, civic and local organizations to develop partnerships, where appropriate, to develop and / or utilize volunteers.

Develops and implements training programs for all volunteers.

Maintains updated records on all volunteers.

Schedule and facilitate quarterly meetings and trainings for the volunteers.

Recommends and develops ongoing volunteer utilization.

Develops and implements a volunteer recognition program.

Maintain accurate records and provide timely statistical and activity reports. Assure that information is up-to-date and assessed on an annual basis.

Client confidentiality agreements and Release of Information forms renewed annually.

Record work in the STARS database and any other database, which may be required. Assure contracted levels of units for responsible areas are achieved each month.

Comply with all present and future requirements of contracts and grants.

Participate in case conferences and supervision sessions; work as part of interdisciplinary team to provide coordinated services to seniors;

present cases during case conference meetings and adjust care plan as indicated.

Participate in outreach, educational and health promotion events to assure client participation and assistance.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment, periodically at nearby community center and other locations within the Spring Creek Towers complex.

Assessment and services provided to homebound seniors in their homes if needed.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, etc.

Provide information and referral to community resources as indicated by NORC assessment, presenting issue and / or plan of care.

Refer to and coordinate services with other NORC staff for case / health management as indicated.

Conduct health indicator surveys as indicated by Executive Director and as required by funding source.

Assist with registration and record keeping for evidence-based workshops.

Work with the Executive Director to develop procedures, schedule workflow, assignments and ongoing programs assuring that these comply with all contracts, grant, nonprofit guidelines and social work professional standards.

Work with Executive Director and other NORC staff to investigate and develop resources to meet needs of groups in community.

Maintain accurate records and provide timely statistical and activity reports. Assure that information is up-to-date and assessed on an annual basis.

REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCIES :

Strong commitment to mission of Spring Creek Senior Partners NORC

Knowledgeable on the different communication and leadership practices.

Demonstrated knowledge of social theories, practices and guidelines of the social work profession.

Dedication to core competencies of the Human Service profession

Ability to develop professional relationships with social service agencies within New York State.

Attend on-going trainings and weekly supervisions with NORC Supervisor / Executive Director.

Excellent organizational skills, and the ability effectively manage different tasks.

Submit weekly timesheets for Senior Companion Program

Self-motivated and able to follow through and complete projects.

Ability to handle complex and difficult situations in a professional manner.

Ability to work independently while also working well as part of a team.

Attend monthly partners meeting with Senior Companion affiliates.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to visit clients and provide services in their homes when required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand;

walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift, carry and / or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift, carry, and / or move objects up to 25 pounds.

The employee must frequently be able to walk up and down approximately seven stairs in the office as well as walk from the office to apartments or other locations around the housing complex when conducting home visits or other activities.

Meetings in other boroughs or locations outside the complex may require use of public transportation.

EVALUATION METHODOLOGIES :

This position will be evaluated based on the incumbents ability to prioritize, time management skills and flexibility. In addition, the incumbents performance will be measured and evaluated according to the standardized tool used for all employees providing service to internal and external customers and incorporating Companys policies and procedures.
