About Swift Straw:

Swift Straw is the largest pine straw distributor in the United States, leading the innovation of bagged, branded pine straw products produced out of its Jasper, FL facility. Swift Straw’s Vision is to spread pine straw to the ends of the Earth, and we do that by harvesting, packaging, and distributing it in ways never been done before, like through our patented pine straw processing and bagging process. This innovation relies on the hard work of the production team in our Jasper, FL facility, and we need an experienced Production Manager to help us fulfill our Vision!

Job Description: 

Swift Straw is looking for a Production Manager to lead the production of bags of pine straw in Swift Straw’s Jasper, FL manufacturing facility.As Production Manager, you will manage a team of production associates to obtain daily, weekly, and monthly targets while promoting a culture based on safety, quality, and service.This role will report to the Plant Manager and be held responsible for various metrics such as, Safety, quality, service, and cost.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage overall production goals in line with company objectives.
  • Own communication for everything under the assigned shift.
  • Ensure proper shift handoff is executed to setup each team for success.
  • Ensure all shift paperwork and system updates are made promptly at the end of each shift.
  • Facilitatecommunication of pre and post startup checklist findings with Maintenance personnel for each shift.
  • Verify and ensure the correct entry of all Employee time and attendance, including PTO requests, attendance policy and weekly payroll verification through ADP.
  • Implement and administer employee disciplinary actions including performance, attendance, safety, and Swift Straw handbook policies for direct reports.
  • Direct training program for direct reports and cross-training within all positions on the assigned shift.
  • Coach and develop all shift personnel to ensure proper business continuity.
  • Prepare for and manage production contingency plans including lack of attendance, downtime events or any other unforeseen circumstance.
  • Liaise with other managers to understand requirements and collaborate on processes and improvements.
  • Organize workflow to meet specifications and deadlines.
  • Monitor production toidentify potential problems and work with team to quickly resolve issues.
  • Supervise and evaluate performance of production personnel.
  • Determine and direct thenumber of necessary resources to complete production (people, raw materials etc.).
  • Ensure output meets quality standards.
  • Enforce health and safety precautions.
  • Understand and influence Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through proactive action, and report to upper management.
  • Maintain and promote a professional and respectful workplace.

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or recipient of GED.
  • Strong organizational skills with experience managing complex systems.
  • Proven experience and deep knowledgein production management.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to be hands-on in the production line, shop, or office.
  • Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), Google Drive, ability to learn Swift Straw’s operating system (Rootstock).
  • Excellent communication skills with a diverse set of stakeholders, including subordinates, company leadership, contractors, laborers.
  • Team player - ability to work well within a team.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and insurable on company’s commercial auto policy.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening.
  • Understanding and appreciation of quality standards and health & safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of performance evaluation and budgeting concepts.
  • Experience in reporting on key production metrics.
  • Excellent organizational and leaderships skills.
  • Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach.
