Since then, Swift Straw has grown multiple product lines to scale with the biggest retailers in the industry and has become the largest pine straw distributor in the United States. The firm has business units ranging from land acquisition to manufacturing, servicing customers from Texas to the Eastern Seaboard.

Job Description:

Swift Straw is looking for a Shift Supervisor to lead a production crew . The role will be based out of Swift Straw’s Jasper manufacturing facility.

As a Shift Supervisor, you will be expected to manage a team of production associates to obtain daily, weekly, and monthly targets while promoting a culture based on safety, quality, and service. This role will report to the Plant Manager and be held responsible for various metrics such as Safety, quality, service, and cost.

Responsibilities:

  • ( Enforce and adhere to all safety standards and procedures to provide a safe work environment for all associates
  • Maintain and promote a professional and respectful workplace
  • Manage overall annual production goals in line with company objectives
  • Own communication for everything under a supervisor for assigned shifts.
    • Ensure shift handoff is being done daily
      • End of Shift form complete
      • Formal communication process being followed and executed daily
    • Manage the communication between line operators, Sr Line operators, and all meetings between shifts
    • Ensure Hourly progress metric board is used hourly, and information is correct
    • Ensure the RM handler is entering information timely and accurately
    • Participate in Leadership meetings
  • Own handoff of pre and post-startup checklist findings with Maintenance personnel daily
  • Review production schedule with Admin & Product Manager daily
    • Raw Material staged correctly for bale breaker on each line
    • Ensure proper film is loaded daily on each line
  • Manage all Employee time and attendance including PTO requests, Attendance policy, and weekly payroll verification through ADP
  • Implement and administer all direct employee disciplinary actions including performance, attendance, safety, and SwiftStraw handbook policies
  • Ensure data integrity in SharePoint including bag tracker, downtime, spread test, and all other business-related metrics.
    • Train all assigned associates on processes for entering any data within Swift straw systems
  • Maintain a training program for direct reports and cross-training within all positions on the assigned shift.
  • Coach and develop all shift personnel to ensure proper business continuity
  • Manage contingency plans for all plant issues including lack of attendance, downtime events, or any other unforeseen circumstance

Qualifications:

  • Experiencing managing a shift within a manufacturing facility
  • Strong organization skills with experience managing complex systems
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to be hands-on in the production line, shop, or office
  • Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), Google Drive, ability to learn Swift Straw’s operating system (Rootstock)
  • Great communication skills – subordinates, company leadership, contractors, laborers
  • Team player - ability to work well within a team
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and insurable on the company’s commercial auto policy
