Job Description:

Swift Straw is looking for a Trailer Mechanic to repair and maintain our Crestview, FLtrailer fleet consisting of 53ft and 48ft dry vans.

The role will be based out of Swift Straw’s Crestview, FL “Shoal River Ranch” shop. Shoal River Ranch is a 6000 acre pine straw operationjust east of Crestview, FL.

As aTrailer Mechanic, you will be expected to diagnose and repair dry van trailersin accordance withFMCSA regulations and on occasionassist in the repair of semi-trucks, tractors, balers, sprayers, UTV’s and miscellaneous small engines. This role will report to the North Florida Production Manager and be held responsible for various metrics such as the number of trailers needing inspection or repair, cost control of repairs, and preventative maintenance records.

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair all parts of dry van trailersin accordance with FMCSA regulations.

• Perform FMCSA annual inspections on dry van trailers.

• Assist in the diagnosing and repair ofsemi-trucks, field tractors, balers, sprayers, UTV’s and various small engines on an as needed basis.

• Ordering of new parts & equipment based on repair needs and budget.

• Inventory of current parts & equipment supply.

• Work closely with the North Florida Production Manager, harvest teams and dispatch teams to ensure repairs are performed effectively and timely.

• Perform basic yard checks of which trailers are on site and report findings daily.

• Move trailers about the yard and in and out of shop as needed.

• Ensure the safety of self and all employees during repairs and movement of trailers throughout the facility.

• Maintain respectful and professional working relationships with all employees and vendors.

Qualifications:

• Meets FMCSArequirements to perform annual inspections.

• Meets FMCSA requirements to perform brake inspections.

• General knowledge of mechanic shop & yard safety.

• Solution-focused, with a work-friendly attitude.

• Intermediate to advanced mechanical skills.

• Intermediate to advanced welding skills.

• Former or current CDL is preferred.

• Experience repairing diesel engines is preferred.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Ability to lift 70lbs.

• Reliable transportation to and from work.
