Job Description:

Swift Straw is looking for a Maintenance Technicianto be responsible for installing, repairing/monitoring industrial processing and production machinery. This is a mid-level position with experience with electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. The role will be based out of Swift Straw’s Jasper FL office.As a Maintenance Technicianyou will be expected to be a key player on the maintenance team and help with all maintenance activities. This role will report to the Maintenance Manager and be held responsible for various metrics such as Downtime Percentage.

Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of the procedures for installing, altering, and repairing all industrial equipment including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components. Ability to understand machinery and diagnose problems

  • Skills in using trade hand tools, using various trade meters, and using electric and hydraulic power tools

  • Understanding of basic hydraulic equipment and how to troubleshoot issues

  • Inspect buildings, equipment, and systems to identify any issues

  • Repair faulty equipment units and damaged structures

  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures

  • Conduct periodic quality checks on equipment and systems to ensure everything is up to standard

  • Maintain detailed maintenance records for all equipment

  • Scheduling vehicles for maintenance and repairs

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or recipient of GED

  • Experiencing managing a shift within a manufacturing facility

  • Strong organization skills with experience managing complex systems

  • Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to be hands-on in the production line, shop, or office

  • Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), Google Drive, ability to learn Swift Straw’s operating system (Rootstock)

  • Excellent communication skills – subordinates, company leadership, contractors, laborers

  • Team player - ability to work well within a team

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and insurable on company’s commercial auto policy

  • Pass pre-employment drug screening

  • This working position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of all types of infrastructure including electrical systems, manufacturing equipment, hydraulic equipment, motorized equipment including forklift and other heavy equipment, and all other components utilized in the operation of the facility

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role

  • Excellent communication skills – subordinates, contractors, laborers

  • In-depth knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems

  • Advanced understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques

  • Effective problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Capability of determining the root cause of a problem

  • Record of accomplishment of proactive, self-starting, “whatever it takes” attitude
