Summary:
Plans and administers policies relating to all phases of Human Resources activities by performing the following duties through the direction of the Accounting Manager.
Upholds and furthers the mission of the YWCA of Hawai`i Island which is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
Assists with recruiting and interviewing applicants to fill vacant positions.
Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
Serves as a resource and advisor for employees and management team. Serves as a liaison when there are employment concerns between the parties.
Keeps records of retirement plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.
Coordinates management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment.
Advises management, in conjunction with current HR consultants, appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
Administers retirement plan.
Investigates accidents and prepares reports for current HR consultants and/or insurance carrier.
Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation.
Represents organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
Records data concerning transfer of employees between departments.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Human Resources, or an Associate’s degree in Human Resources with 2 years experience. SHRM certification desired but not required.
Must have clerical and computer proficiency.
Other Skills and Abilities:
An experienced leader and human resources manager with appropriate industry experience, preferably in the non-profit sector. A forward-thinking and creative individual with highest ethical standards. A visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus. A well organized and self-directed individual who is a team player. An articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of the organization and possesses excellent communication skills. An educator who is experienced in contracts. A decisive individual who possesses a “big picture” perspective and is well versed in systems.
Other Qualifications:
  • Must possess a current Hawaii Driver’s License.
  • Must have use of a dependable automobile.
  • Must have automobile insurance .
  • Must have a clean driving abstract.
  • Must have a clean criminal background/record check.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • TB clearance desirable.
