Senior Systems Administrator
Our Fintech client pioneers technology solutions and services for colleges, universities, lenders, and investors, optimizing loan portfolio management programs. We are seeking a dynamic, full-time Senior Systems Administrator based in Austin, TX office. In this hybrid role, the Senior Systems Administrator will spearhead day-to-day tasks encompassing system administration, technical support, network administration, and information technology.
**Responsibilities**
- Oversee server systems administration across enterprise-class information systems, including web servers, database servers, application servers, and mail servers.
- Configure and maintain servers, storage systems, and applications, ensuring peak performance, availability, and security through vigilant monitoring.
- Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems on a rotational on-call basis.
- Execute scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities outside regular hours.
- Streamline and automate routine processes, meticulously track issues, and document changes.
- Contribute to the software development process as needed, offering operational infrastructure designs and recommendations.
- Share domain expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to colleagues.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of our SaaS infrastructure.
- Configure and operate infrastructure hardware such as servers, switches, and firewalls.
- Monitor and optimize infrastructure utilization and performance.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, ensuring swift resolution and identifying root causes for prevention.
- Communicate and coordinate infrastructure maintenance schedules and downtime with stakeholders.
- Assist in implementing infrastructure solutions that meet or exceed internal and external SLAs and expectations.
**Qualifications - Desired Skills and Talent**
- Proven track record with 5 years of professional experience in large-scale enterprise and/or hosting environments.
- Expertise in Microsoft Server technologies, particularly Windows Server 2022 and Active Directory.
- Proficiency in supporting Linux web and database servers, encompassing RHES/CentOS, Apache/Tomcat, and NOSQL/MySQL.
- Demonstrated skill in task automation using standard IT scripting languages (Perl, Python, shell, PowerShell, Task Scheduler, cron, etc.) on both Linux and Windows platforms.
- Experience in a 24x7x365 data center environment.
- Familiarity with storage technologies, including SAN and Fiber Channel, with a solid grasp of RAID levels and LUN management.
- Competence in highly virtualized environments utilizing VMWare vSphere and Horizon.
- Background in working with classified information/data.
- Proficiency with monitoring systems and best practices.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds.
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Extensive experience with 8 years in distributed enterprise-class IT systems.
- Skill in configuring routers, switches, and firewalls, specifically Dell, HP, and Cisco.
- Familiarity with BIGIP F5 Load Balancers, Citrix NetScaler.
- Certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, VCP, CCNA, and ITIL.
- Experience with higher availability systems, including clusters and load balancing techniques.
- Administration experience with database environments, encompassing SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, SingleStore, and MySQL.
- Working knowledge of applied IT service management frameworks.
