The Payroll Specialist will be part of a team who assist with day-to-day operations and the accurate and timely processing of weekly and bi-weekly, multi-state payroll for approximately 2,000 commission, hourly and salaried team members.
Compensation : $20 - $25 / hour
Full-time / hourly with full benefits including medical, dental, 401k, PTO, paid holidays
The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following :
Process weekly multi-state payroll
Process garnishments and child support
Maintain records for Direct Deposits, W4 Changes and New Hires
Conduct payroll audits
Proactively research errors and assist with procedures to prevent reoccurrence
Respond to team member inquiries in a timely and effective manner
Remain current on existing and new payroll guidelines, processes, or any legislations impacting payroll. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and standards.
Maintain electronic file feed information with payroll vendors
Assist with special projects and other various Human Resources duties as needed under the supervision of the Payroll Manager
Maintains confidentiality and uses the utmost discretion with matters including but not limited to personal and or financial information in the duties of the position
Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary
Qualifications
Required Education :
High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education / Certification(s) :
Associate’s Degree or higher in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance or related field
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)
Required Experience :
Minimum of 3 years of proven payroll experience
Working knowledge of payroll best practices
Demonstrated analytical skills and decision-making kills, including the ability to perform mathematical calculations, including the knowledge and application of gross-to-net payroll calculations
Strong technical background with an ERP system
Proficient with Microsoft Suite, especially Microsoft Excel. Must have demonstrated experience with VLOOKUP, PIVOT TABLES and general formulas
Ability to be flexible in schedule and adaptable to constant change
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering accurate and timely results
Demonstrated ability to deal with and maintain sensitive and confidential information
Effective verbal, written communication, and active listening skills
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of internal team members, business stakeholders and external customers
Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently
Ability to apply sound judgement and discretion in performing duties while interpreting company policies with audit controls
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet established deadlines
