WSP Global is Hiring an Electrical Construction Inspector Near Washington, DC

WSP is currently seeking an experienced Electrical Construction Inspector with expertise in the inspection of the construction of new/repair/renovate electrical systems including Switchgears, Lighting, Motor Control Center (MCC), Power Distribution, Substation, Fire Alarm Control Panel, wiring and verification of existing conditions. 

Who You Are

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the construction work and manage the inspection team.
  • Manage contract administration activities and the preparation of Construction Progress Reports to document progress and to identify key issues that need to be addressed by the client team. 
  • Recognize construction problems and apply standard techniques and procedures to solve the problem.
  • Evaluate and review contractor schedules and pay applications and making recommendations to the client.
  • Evaluate the merits of contractor issued change orders and claims and making recommendations to the client.
  • Coordinate with different departments within an individual client’s organization as well as with third party utilities and outside stakeholders.
  • Act as the Owner’s agent with regards to the construction process.
  • Understand, evaluate, and solve construction related field issues.
  • Assist in the RFI, submittal, and change order review process and review contractor’s work schedule and schedule implementation.
  • Evaluate and manage the quality of work being installed.
  • Identify project risks and providing mitigation plan.
  • Coordinate start-up/testing/commissioning with the client and commissioning agent.
  • Provide technical guidance and insight during punch list/closeout activities.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Your Impact

Minimum Requirements:

  • 9 years’ experience in construction management of electrical/communication new and upgrade projects. 
  • Technical degree in Electrical/Communication Engineering, or related technical field.
  • High School Diploma 
  • Advanced knowledge of construction management processes means and methods.
  • Read and understand electrical drawings, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards.
  • Knowledge in electrical/communication installation, and mechanical disciplines. 
  • Understanding of all facets of the construction process.
  • General knowledge of applicable codes and design methodologies. 
  • Familiarity with the use of a variety of project control systems such as Contract Manager, Primavera P6, eBuilder, MS Project, SharePoint.
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
  • Proven Track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
