POSITION OBJECTIVE

As the Asphalt Superintendent for Wright Construction, you will be responsible for overseeing and leading asphalt operations in the field, acting as a liaison between sales and operations to ensure seamless coordination and execution of asphalt projects in Nashville, TN. This multifaceted position entails project planning, scheduling, trucking logistics, quality control, team recruitment and retention, and team coaching and development. With a focus on project planning, scheduling, and quality control, you will ensure efficient operations and adherence to Wright Construction standards. As the Asphalt Superintendent, you will spend roughly 80% of your time in the field and 20% of your time in the office. Additionally, you will play a vital role in team recruitment, coaching, and development, driving the growth of the organization.

POSITION KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, coordinate and supervise asphalt paving projects; including scheduling, resource allocation, and materials management.
• Oversee four to five projects a week, on average.
• Supervise and mentor a team of asphalt crew members, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality work and adherence to safety protocols.
• Oversee the preparation of construction sites, ensuring proper grading, compaction, and layout to meet project specifications.
• Monitor and inspect work progress, verifying compliance with quality standards and making necessary adjustments to maintain project timelines and deliver exceptional results.
• Enforce strict adherence to safety guidelines and regulations, promoting a culture of safety among all team members and subcontractors.
• Strategically recruit and assist in retaining personnel.
• Coordinate and supervise all on-site construction activities.
• Direct all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule.
• Evaluate the effectiveness and performance of field personnel and their crews.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED

• 10 years of experience in asphalt paving or a related field.
• Proven track record of managing and successfully completing paving projects.
• Ability to supervise and provide strategic leadership to field personnel.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and blueprints.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the construction industry, with a commitment to promoting and enforcing a culture of safety.
• High-level organizational skills with multi-tasking capabilities.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving project-related challenges.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to build rapport within and outside the company.
