The role

WR is looking for a Controller to be part of our Finance team. This individual will be responsible for directing the organizations accounting functions. These functions include establishing and maintaining the organizations accounting principles, practices, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. This is a very transactional accounting position responsible for all facets of general accounting. This includes month end and year end close, financial statement preparation, supervising accounts payable, accounts receivable, sales and use tax and assisting with the annual budget and review of the financial statements.

What you will do

~ Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Maximizes return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
  • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data
  • Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
  • Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular account reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Utilize accounting software to maintain financial records

  • Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Encourage a culture driven by collaboration, investing in the success of others, providing training, guidance, and mentoring.

What success will look like

A successful Controller will cultivate business relationships with other departments within Workplace Resource and provide positive and effective representation with internal and external customers of our business.

Qualifications and/or Experience

The preferred candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree (B. A. or B. S.) from an accredited college or university in finance or related field; preferably possess as CPA. At least 7 years of progressive experience in all areas or accounting. Strong knowledge of GAAP required. Proven experience as a Controller or in a similar role.

  • Be self-motivated and passionate about your work in a fast-based environment
  • Strong knowledge of financial management principles and practices
  • Proficiency in account reconciliation and analysis
  • Familiarity with governmental accounting regulations
  • Experience with accounting software
  • Have high attention to detail and diligent about producing high-quality work
  • Interested in learning new skills and keeping pace with changing technologies
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of sales and use tax laws and other related accounting laws/procedures as well as government regulations
  • Possesses critical thinking skills, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to build and sustain productive working relationships across a diverse spectrum of people.
  • Commits time and effort to ensure success by setting job as a priority and implementing strategies to ensure success.
  • Demonstrates integrity and trust by acting ethically and gaining the trust and respect of other

Pursuant to the Colorado Fair Pay Act, compensation for this role is market competitive, including an annualized salary range of $85,000 to $110,000. Work Environment and Physical/Mental Demands

The position requires working typically in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as office phone/smartphone, computer/laptop, photocopiers, filing cabinets and printers. This is largely a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
